    Upgrading Sky+ to Multiroom?

Currently have 1 Sky+ box downstairs and looking to add Multiroom Sky+ to bedroom.

Been researching all day, but still not 100% clear!

Anyone know the best deals for this? I currently have the full sports package (removed movies recently due to price). Would it work out cheaper to reinstall movies than pay the £10 sub to Multiroom?

Thanks for any help, heads spinning!! :-(

    Did you get it sorted?

either way you have to pay the extra £10 for multiroom subscription and have both boxes connect to the same telephone line/number.

SkyHD £299 upgarde to multiroom or £99 for Sky+

Do you want to watch different channels in each room, or just watch Sky on more than one TV? If it's the latter, you don't need multiroom. A wireless receiver / transmitter will do the job, but if you want to send it over to multiple TVs, then you'll need a splitter.

An option for you to consider?

    Regards, Steve

As I understand it the SkyHD price is for the box + £10 or so per month for receiving ... not entirely sure but to my point, you can buy the SKYHD decoders elsewhere for cheaper such as Ebay. I saw one on there (not the one from sky but a different manufacturer) which was £150 new, last night.

Thanks for the replies. I do want to watch different channels - I used to have the wireless receiver, but found it didnt work that well (poor reception).

Gonna give Sky a call shortly so will post back some info...

    I've got Sky multiroom.

I have Sky+ downstairs and normal sky box in the bedroom.
It didn't cost me anything extra, it is normally £10 per month extra, but is free if you have sky movies or sky sports package.

    Hope that helped?

EDIT - However, you might need to pay for the call out charge or something? I got mine installed all at once, so probably avoided the cost?

Also if you want Sky+ upstairs you are probably looking at £99 for the box too.

I do have the Sports packages, so I think I should avoid the £10 charge. Looks like there may be a £60 install fee plus £99 for the Sky+ box.

The pricing on Sky's website is not very clear!!

Yes there is the £60 call out charge, you could avoid this by blowing up your sky+ box (if it is still under warrenty) and asking them to come out and fix it, and say "Oh by the way, can you stick in multiroom whilst you are here?"

I've just tried to order Sky+ multiroom online and it's charged me the extra £10 subscription yet I am on the full Sky World package. Where were you quoted the free subscription with a movie and sport package?

This is where the Sky website is misleading (or at least confusing!)...

    One-off cost FREE**** £99 £299
    Standard Installation FREE*** FREE" FREE"
    Programme subscription** N/A FREE* £10/mth

"When you subscribe to Multiroom (otherwise £60)
*When you subscribe to 2 or more Premium Channels (otherwise £10 a month)
**Sky+ and Sky HD subscriptions are in addition to your mix subscription
***When you subscribe to any Sky TV package
    ****New customers only

The first column is normal Sky, 2nd Sky+ and the last Sky HD.

My understanding of that is that if you wanted to have Sky+ Multiroom, it would cost £99 for the box, with no installation fee and if you subscribe to at least 2 premium channels (sports pack?) then there is no ongoing £10 subscription...

Does that make sense to anyone?!

I THINK you guys are interpreting this wrong. The ongoing £10 fee is not the sky multi room fee being waivered but the cost of sky+ per month being free because you have a sports or movies package.

I'm pretty sure that the sky multi room fee of £10 per month HAS to be paid regardless of what package you have

I'll have to dig out my last bill, but I am pretty sure I don't pay £10 p/month extra for multi room. That was the whole reason I took it, as the guy at Sky told me I get it for free as long as I subscribed to the premium packages (movies/sport).

These cheaper HD receivers will not work with sky, as the NDS encryption is not available on any other box .

sky multi room is £10 a month extra no matter what what channel package you have,
sky+ is free if u have movies/or sports chans otherwise £10 a month
