USA Travel Insurance

Im off to America from the 22nd of Nov to the 15th of Feb and have been looking for travel insurance everywhere but it all seems so expensive. Does anyone know any cheap insurance companys? Ive looked at Travel super market etc but its all quite expensive!

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

who do you bank with? alliance and leicester give free travel insurance with their premier banking, some other banks off it as part of the pay bank accounts, maybe worth looking into that

I get it free with Lloyds now but before always opted for the Post Office

If your current account doesn't qualify for free travel insurance, give them a ring as they'll give you a discount being a customer 0800 434 6370

This looks intresting ]Clicky Can i just cancel after the first three months? That way i will be paying £7.95 for the first three months meaning i get free travel insurance and it will cover the whole time im in the US. Then when i get back i just cancel so i dont pay the normal £12? Does that make sense?

Forget that i just looked again and the maximum trip duration is 31 days. Im there for alot longer so none of their free insurance will cover me

Maximum trip duration
31 consecutive days
45 consecutive days (17 days for winter sports)
62 consecutive days (17 days for winter sports)

so you'd need the 3rd option of Premier ?

That would cost a minimum of £75!!!

You are probably better off getting an annual insurance tbh.

had a quick look at insureandgo.com (they tend to be the cheapest) looks like it would cost approx £50 obviously depends on your age etc, make sure you inc baggage.

I would recommend an insurance that covers 10 mil in medical expenses just in case tho USA can be expensive in medical treatment

If you are travelling around USA then have a look at backpackers insurance.

could only find backpackers too, but make sure it covers the States and not Australia, which some default to.

I think £30 is a great price, don't think your gonna found cheaper. I used to sell me customers £29 each for two weeks in spain!!! (Travel Agent's always expensive!)

check if it covers baggage, and has a decent level of medical cover. also worth checking how much excess there is if you were to claim.

Where are you staying in the states anyway?
