USA tv streaming - won't let me watch because I am not in US, can anyone help?

    Hi all.

Found that I can watch Lost in good quality on ABC website (link in 2nd post) but when I click to watch I get the message "Only viewers within the United States can watch these full-length episodes"

I haven't put any details in so how do they know and is there any way I can get round this?

    Thanks

    Maybe a us proxy server?

    Or just download them?

they know by your IP address provided by your ISP. there are programs out there that can spoof your ip address so as to make it look like you're elsewhere. i don't use them so you'd have to google it unless someone else knows of a program that does it

they know through your IP address

    you can either:

    1. use US based proxy but it will hugely compromise your internet speed
    2. find a way to "hack" the web and download the video to be palyed offline. try this firefox add-on: videodownloadhelper

Use a proxy that provides you with a route via a US IP address. All legal

There is quite a good selection of shows on that abc website, may well give it a try too!

most of the US proxies are either realllly slow or have terrible availability though so might not be any good to watch stuff. Download the episodes from Bittorrent instead, much more reliable.

or use rapidshare.com to download them faster than BT!!!

Going through a proxy will slow everything down.

So before you try that see if the show you want to watch is on here : surfthechannel.com/

All shows are streamed in the browser like ABC and Fox do.

Geeky? Its one of the original download methods from the early net days and is now only just being used widely, people are wising up to the speeds newsgroups give you.
Torrents are unreliable these days speedwise, rapidshare is too much of a pain. But newsgroups once you get the hang of it are a doddle, it took me two or three trials to get the hang of it all.

The only people I know that use it are IT people....
Seems way too hard for me to be bothered to be honest...I'm thinking about rapidshare but currently using torrents

Fair play to you though Harlitzer...no offence intended
