usb 3.0 flash drive, help needed

Hi, hoping you can help, need a flash drive to back up my windows 8.1 on pc, but also need a few 16/32gb ones for sharing files. Hoping for usb 3.0.

What sort of prices are fair? And what brands are reliable, the one for backup will be put on and left and hopefully never used but don't want to try use it in a couple of years n find it doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated, I've googled it but info is overwhelming, don't know what sites to trust, and Amazon reviews basically say every one I find is either expensive or slow.

i use the Kingston data traveller 100 G3. the drive comes in various sizes. 32GB from Amazon would be around £10. how much data you looking to back up on the PC? you will most likely be better off looking for a cloud backup solution.

It's just the windows 8.1 back up disc, don't have a cd/dvd drive on media pc so has to be backed up on usb stick

I saw the g3 on Amazon but top reviews claim read/write speeds are nowhere near usb 3.0 speeds, pretty much same thing said on everyone I've looked at

I'm not meaning to sound sarcastic, but surely a slower but more reliable one would be far better than a faster and unreliable one, and much better than nothing at all!

& if its for backup purposes speeds don't really matter once all data is on the disk

Not sure what size windows backup will be, assume 8gb would do, I aim for USB 3.0 as don't want to be stuck for hours doing the backup but I see you point, I'll look on Amazon for the back up drive.

Still stuck for the ones for transferring files, any thoughts?

For a big drive I use nothing but LaCie.
If you want a drive you can be 99.999% sure will work fine in years to come its LaCie drives.
A bit more expensive but they are worth it.

If i remember rightly i think you need 32gb to back up windows 8, but if you go to start the back up it will tell you how much space you need.
