    USB External Hard Drives

    Afternoon all,

We have used up all our hard-drive on our home computer so we are looking for an external hard drive to hold photos etc.

Looking for something 250gb or bigger for cheapest price possible.

Has anyone seen any good deals?

Thanks in advance for someones help.

    Michael

2.5" or 3.5"?2.5" are smaller and USB powered where as 3.5" are bigger … 2.5" or 3.5"?2.5" are smaller and USB powered where as 3.5" are bigger and are mains powered, but you get a higher capacity for a cheaper price.

ah, didnt know that lol. I dont really mind tbh. Think I would prefer 2.5".

Things like photos are precious - you really need at least two copies. If you have a laptop you might do well to get a smallish (250Gb) 2.5" drive as 'overflow' and a bigger 3.5" 500Gb+ drive to take regular backups of both the PC data and the 2.5" drive...

The 2.5" drives tend to be more expensive and slower; but are way more convenient than plugging in to the mains everytime you want to connect.
    e.g. the 320Gb from PC world for £45 pcworld.co.uk/mar…als
I think the 3.5" drives are around 345 for 500Gb or £60 for 1Tb - there are often deals...

Get … Get this:http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/584261/iomega-select-500gb-3-5-external-haIOMEGA select 500GB 3.5" external hard drive from Comet for **£35.99** using code3.5", but it all depends on what you want it for, I normally get 3.5".

    Yep great price

I bought two yesterday, both from Comet.

    A 2.5" 320GB for £40.50, and a 3.5" 500GB for £35.99.

Both using the 10% off voucher. There have been deals for both drives cheaper than this recently, but this was the best I coulf find currently.
