    USB Flash drives

Does anyone know if its possible to run bluray style quality off of a USB stick? Rather than me taking loads of Blurays on holiday for the kids, i could load them all onto a USB and save the space.

Just to add, the place we are staying in has Plasma TV's with USB slots in the side of them.

You can convert HD videos to run from a USB stick but each video will be approx 4gb and whether they play or not depends on the model of TV,

The average dvd is 4GB so blu-ray must be much bigger.

Nope, DVD average is 700MB, 720p Blu-Ray is 4GB and 1080P is 8GB when encoded into a MKV container with an efficient codec.

Nope, I'm sure CD is 700MB, DVD is 4.7GB & Bluray is upto 25GB.

yup thats about right with out extra compression and loss of quality, bd rips start at about 12GB

    Practical example:
The full Blu Ray rip of Inception is 45gb.
    720p x264 rip of Inception is 7gb.
    1080p x264 rip of Inception is 12gb.

Cheers guys, and yeah im sure they wont mind too much if its in full HD quality, i just saw a large flash drive the other day which would hold about 8 of the blu rays that the kids have. Just something to keep them zombified for a few hours whilst me and mrs Splodge unwind.
