did you plug all of the cables onto the USB headers on the motherboard?

the USB sockets at the front of the case don't work automatically, unlike the ones on the back of the case which are already soldered onto the motherboard.

Your flash device is powered off your mobo, while other devices might be self-powered. In which case, they do not need power from USB socket.
Check power connections and ground pin, this might be a reason.

He must have connected it properly or the other devices wouldn't work..have you tried the flash drive in a rear USB socket??...

sorry Antj87 I didn't read your post properly or I wouldn't have asked about trying it in the rear USB....well I've drawn a blank guess it's just some USB devices act in that fashion with some sockets.

As I said, some devices require power to be provided by USB socket while others don't. If 'other' device OP used is self powered, then it will work even if power pins are not properly connected. However, no USB-powered device will work in this case.

so what could be wrong komm???

    ground not on correctly!?

Check your mobo's user guide. In my case, the USB header is like that:

    NC Empty
    GND GND
    D5+ D4+
    D5- D4-
    VCC VCC

For example, if I only need to connect 1 port on front panel, I should connect it this way:

    NC Empty
    GND GND (ground cable)
    D5+ D4+ (Data + cable)
    D5- D4- (Data - cable)
    VCC VCC (power cable)

and leave connections for port 5 (GND, D5+, D5-, VCC) open.

Check that your connection is OK, especially GND and VCC. You may also try to take these from other pins on the same header if it exists.
