USB video stops after 4 seconds

Found 7th AugEdited by:"kramvic"
Went on a 3 car driving experience at the weekend, bought the in car video for all 3 cars. Unfortunately there was nothing on the usb when they checked it but I brought it home to try and recover myself. I formatted the usb, ran Ease us recovery and it found 7 files. 3 are videos, one is 176mb, shows avi preview of a blank film reel and says is corrupt. The 2nd is 40mb and shows a video preview and plays for 4 seconds and then ends. The 3rd is 113mb, again shows a video preview and will also play for 4 seconds. All saved as raw files and avi's. Has anybody any idea how I could play the full video?
Thanks.

Open the file in notepad to get the CC of the codec.

This should give you a list of the different codecs.

XMedia Recode is very useful
Download VLC and try playing the files with that.

Try handbrake, just make sure you have the right codecs.

I have handbrake already but had forgot about it. Will give it a try. Cheers.
Handbrake will attempt to re-encode which may produce a result but will also impact quality (and may take an age depending on settings and machine). If using Windows, consider installing a comprehensive codec pack such as Klite, being prudent to not install any unwanted tat. Probably won't need more than the "Standard" Klite option at codecguide.com/dow…htm

Check the audio codec for the sound. Also sometimes you can rip and convert the audio if it's non standard and convert it to another code.
