This idea comes from user Jediross who posted it in the comments on the Amazon Sharpie Pens Thread I suggested posting it as a thread but he hasn't got round to it but I've used it so much since and found it so useful I wanted to share. But it isn't my idea it's Mr Jedi!
In a nutshell put an add on item in your basket. Then use the voice commands on Alexa to make the order. It does not add on the P&P and you do not have to spend the £20 minimum.
With Christmas coming its great for stocking fillers.

sorted byYes, of course. Obviously Google will subsidise postage from their smart assistant competitors.
Just Google it.
Alexa will ask you to enable voice purchasing on the app. When she asks you to do this, a notification will appear on your mobile phone. When you touch the notification, it will bring you directly to the option to enable voice purchasing.
on a side not, anybody know how to turn off delivery notifications on one of my echo dots. every time I order something it flashes a red ring on my daughters echo dot and tells her what the delivery is. 2 xmas present surprises ruined so far.
I just want to turn off delivery notifications on that one echo dot and leave the rest as is. is this possible?
You can sort out the notifications in the alexa app. I wish they'd told us before enabling this
That is what I need. I don't mind the parcel notification. Its the contents being announced that is the issue. Never had the option to turn it off on alexa. Will need to "have a word with her" when I get in.
I got it working once but hasn't worked since.
I say something like "order my Amazon basket" and sometimes it'll list what's in there and ask if I want to order - it then ignores me saying yes. Sometimes it doesn't even ask that and says it doesn't know what I want to order.
It's a bit hit and miss and sometimes Alexa mishears me, but I usually get there eventually!
You can add the item to your basket first but don't have to. Just say "Alexa, order (product name)". She'll say the full name of the product and the price and ask you to say "buy it now" if you want to order. The blue light goes out at this point so I end up having to say "Alexa, buy it now" which she sometimes mishears as "bye for now"!
It's a bit of a fiddle but worth it in the end when it finally works! So far I've ordered a board game and a Lego set, both £5 add-on items.
Just managed to get it work in by interrupting Alexa asking if I want to buy it now, by saying "buy now".
Not sure why she doesn't seem to actually listen for a response though. I had to hit the voice button again to answer, but it only worked if interrupting her, not when waiting for her to finish - odd!
Couldn't even find the item that way, oddly. It added something else instead! But I eventually got there after asking her to order what was on my basket.
Today and last week for pens.
It happened to me too, I had to return the product as the whole house knew what I've got. However, I remember that after I've listened to the notification, Alexa asked me if I would like next time the product not to be mentioned in the notification.
Came this morning with my monthly S&S delivery so I don't feel too guilty
Thanks.
I've got a few of one item in my basket but not enough to get the free delivery normally (all add-ons). That's why I wanted to order it from my basket, to get multiple of the item.
How does it work if I'm asking directly to buy the item, if I want more than one?
I'm not sure - did you get this to work? I guess you could just do a separate order for each item maybe?
