Useless inventions

Having read this story tonight it crossed my mind how many people spend years of money & time on worthless inventions.

Here is my vote for useless invention of the week

bbc.co.uk/new…811

"New seat alert app for pregnant commuters"

"A new app launches in the UK on Monday aimed at helping pregnant women get seats on public transport.
Babee on Board consists of two companion apps that communicate via Bluetooth.
Once an alert is triggered, people nearby with the app receive a message saying there is someone who needs to sit down.
The app containing the alert button costs £3.99, which will be donated to a children's charity.
The developers said they were charging a fee to prevent it being used by pranksters.
"We would rather give it away for free but we need to ensure there's a barrier so people don't download it for free and troll those around them," said Hew Leith, chief executive of 10X, the British innovation consultancy behind the app."

Does this include the worst brands in the world? Eg brands can be thought of as "intangible creations"...

On the big end of the scale, nuclear weapons. Also "Israel", another massively useless invention. Basically anything that's come out of the US/UK military industrial complex since the internet.
On the smaller end of the scale, hmm, there's a lot of pointless consumer crap out there, where would one start.

That would be an insult to the parents?

Condoms with sweat holes
Square shaped pint glasses so they dont leave a ring
Index for a dictionary
Waterproof teabags

The vacuums that have a swivel end , it never goes where you want it.

Hive control your heating from your phone.
Talk about overkill, just set your manual timer for half an hour before your due home and it will be warm when you get in won't it?
