using sony z5 and z5c, was wondering how does p9 do in comparison?

Interested in p9 but don't know if it's worth swapping. Any advice?

My first question would be... what does the Z5 and Z5C not currently do that you need? Whilst the P9 is a great phone, the 'upgrade' (depending on your view of course...) would be very incremental. If you just want to change it because you fancy a change go for it.

Really good point, whilst I do fancy a change (I don't think of p9 as an upgrade) I want to find out what am I (or not) compromising in terms of quality of the camera, battery life, speed, screen etc.

I think going back to the above it's an incremental change so there isn't anything you'll likely notice to be honest. Some of the reviews have suggested that the EMUI skin is a tad on the slow side.

I have a Huawei Mate 8 which I really rate, previous to that I have been a Sony fan for a couple of years. The EMUI is a tad 'bloated' but I've pretty much disabled most of it and use the Google Now Launcher to get it as close to stock Android as I can without rooting it.

No worries, I wasn't actually offering the Mate 8 as an alternative just giving you my thoughts on it. For me I wanted a large phone with a big battery - this ticked both those boxes. Footprint size it's barely bigger than the Nexus 6P and the iPhone Plus however the Mate 8 has a bigger screen. The Mate 9 is due for release in the next couple of months I believe.

P9 - better camera, better screen and screen to body ratio. Feels and looks nicer overall. Faster than z5c by a noticeable amount.
Z5 - bigger overall, looks nice but I'm not a fan of massive bezels. The waterproofing is a big factor for me though. Not worrying about spilling my pint on my phone is ace
Z5c - nice and compact. One hand use is handy. It does feel laggy though. Especially when switching apps or loading keypad in some apps.

Judging the price factors, if you can get the p9 for under £200 like with the o2 deal posted not too long ago, snap it up. Sell the z5 before everyone sees how cheap they are through o2...
