i have had tons of these monsters over the last few weeks they on steroids i swear !

cant stand the buggers myself, its that time of the year, some big hoofing ones about at the mo !!!! you can buy a spider spray, but I cant vouch for its effectiveness. spider spray

no ive been told they dont work
horrible things we have huge ones here they come down from the hills behind us

I have this stuff and it seems to work, only had one of the buggers so far this year

You can get it from Betterware

I found a huge one right near the light switch when I went to get a glass of orange juice this evening!
I frantically check my bedroom every night for spiders, they creep me out

Leave them alone, they won't hurt you...........will they ?

Spiders do bite, I was bitten once on my fingertip and it started bleeding, had a phobia ever since , I don't open the windows now without a fly screen fitted. You must have a dusty house vb1 so time to get your pinny on

Just be grateful that you dont live in australia,

Just make sure you don't leave your clothes lying around your room.

They like to crawl in ...

    ...and wait ...

    use some conkers!
    apparently it scares them

Its one reason DLM will never pull me.

To all the others with the "comedy" pictures and comments.... photos of spiders don't bother me in the slightest. I think its the movement, but even then only in real life, not videos, so don't waste your time.

Also go do one with the "leave them alone they aren't hurting" stuff. I don't deny any of that, but I still want them out.

So to the original question... does this work:

(Ignore price as I can get it cheaper)

I read somewhere that all these sonic gadgets are just a waste of money - they don't get rid of creepy crawlies or keep them at bay. Was always thinking about getting one but find my shoe works just as well or an Argos book X)

So the lesson is, if you do leave clothes on your floor make sure they stay there until June at least then the spider will have died of old age!

not that it matters, they run across your face while you're asleep anyway.

    Man up ya lightweight queer!X)

    It's missing some legs lol

a small price to pay for peace of mind !

The insect repellents are mostly designed to repel rodents and sprays just don't work. I have just moved house to a more rural area where the spiders have huge muscles and tend to roam in gangs. My advice is to buy a spider sucker and suck them up humanely, or use a glass tumbler and piece of cardboard to trap them. You can then study them at close quarters and see that apart from those long legs there really isn't much to them. Or you can go to a zoo or see one of those odd children who like tarantulas as pets and study them first hand. I used to live in California where the desert tarantulas, like our own boys, like to roam in search of a mate every September. If you don't like these ideas then encourage wasps - they keep the spider population down - and don't feed birds as they normally prey on these arachnids for their usual food source. Those fat balls are too easy an alternative for them. Birds should only be fed on harsh winter days anyway. Garden spiders never come indoors and can be left safely in their bush webs. House spiders or cardinal spiders cause the most fear because of their size. I don't like spiders but I won't go to war with them either. Spiders are carnivorous and one spider will eventually eat the others in a room, males usually ending up as fodder for the female after mating. If you have small spiders you are unlikely to have a large one in residence in that room. Females are larger but a good spider sucker will tackle even one of these. Release it far away from the house as it will naturally run for the closest shelter. A spider's only means of defence against us is to freeze when a light is suddenly switched on. That is the time to pop a tumbler over it. If you find one in the bath just chase it round and after two or three circuits it will become exhausted and can easily be collected for humane release. The fear they generate is mostly from the number and size of their legs and the speeds at which they move, and the fact they are pretty good at finding their way inside homes we think are well sealed. Try to relax after dealing with one as they can really jangle the nerves of the terrified. Picture them with smiling faces and wearing silly shoes. That may help. My suggestion is to learn to deal with them as there are far more of them than us. Personally I am surprised they ever mate after once looking at each other. Man, you would have to be desperate.

    tl;dr ^^^^^^^

I'll second the reccomendation for the spray from Betterware, I've had the same bottle for 3 years now and I think it only costs £4 and there is still loads left. Have only had a couple of small ones this year.

i know it sounds awful but i'm scared of spiders too and i spray them with hairspray, seems to kill em

    I love all god's creatures

right im not particularly scared of spiders. But 2 weeks ago there was one of those crab spiders in my room.
First night i saw it crawl over me and i jumped up to the light and it had gone.
So i was already wondering where this bad boy was hiding.
Next night - go to sleep - feel something bite me check my left buttock - THE **** HAD CRAWLED INTO MY PANTS. Killed it straight away.
Now i sleep with my hands round my genitals.

particularly bad night last night with spiders, where do they come from?? Our house is brand new and was pressure tested for building regs so its quite airtight but they still get in !! I disabled one biggish one in the lounge and set my irobot roomba vacuum cleaner going over it to finish it off and clean up aswell .

I bought a new bin yesterday in home n bargain, as the assistant was helping me get one and get the lid i looked inside and there was a 'tarantula' ( well not far off, lol ) inside, the girl screamed grabbed the bin and turned it upside down , the ' big hairy' thing was running down the aisles, you should of heard the screams oO , the manager came out thinking there was a robbery or something , haha, it all calmed down, i finished getting shopping went the till and as i was about to pay the poor young lad serving went 'hysterical' running round waving his hands in air shouting '' kill it'' X) .........yep 'hairy Harry' was by the till, more screams , customers running to other tills etc, it was soooooo funny !!!, i chuckled all the way home thinking the chaos i had caused buying a bin X)

Me and the spiders in my house have an agreement. I see you, you die.

I'm not scared of spiders as such but once while getting ready to go out I felt something on my back that turned out to be a giant spider and since then the hairy legged little **** have known me as the bringer of death.

    In a word..... No.

In further news, my mother, who works in a school, brought round some conkers a 6 year old girl had sent me to help.

I woke up this morning to a huge spider sat looking at the conker. I didn't get too close, but the spiders expression seemed to be "WTF?!?! BUWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA"

    So to summarise: Help.

I have devised some sticky traps using strips of thin vinyl flooring and 2 inch wide double-sided carpet tape, these have been placed at stragetic points around the house, caught one last night on the sticky tape, this should also tell me which rooms they are coming from and hopefully sort the problem out. I spent last weekend taking off kitchen plinths and spraying expandable foam down any pipework gaps and using silicone sealant around any smaller gaps, people think I'm mad , I even tried the conkers...........had 75 of them surrounding our bed and still there was a spider in the room...granted it was outside the ring of comkers though but not sure whether he ever entered in so scrapping the conker idea and going for these homemade glue traps!!

That's actually not a bad idea with the tape. Had to go and get one out of daughter's room last night after she flew downstairs screeching that there was a HUGE one on her floor and it had ran under her bed. It was big mind you but managed to squash it with the sweeping brush (and had to show her the evidence as she wouldn't go to bed otherwise). Think I'll go and invest in some carpet tape!

Caught two big spiders on the homemade sticky strips last night, one coming from the hallway into the lounge and one coming out of a bedroom. Jesus I'm on edge this morning and my spine wont stop tingling, I think someones trying to punish me but why?? Are they getting in or already in and breeding, its a new house only finished 6 months ago so maybe they got trapped in somewhere during the build. Planning to put down more traps at the weekend and may go and see my gp about this lol
