vehicle mileage

Am buying a motorbike (BMW F800ST 2009) tonight and got a RAC Hpi check done and have mileage discrepancies.

MOT (History check) mileage record from 2012 onwards from Gov website:

6,715 miles

6,744 miles

9,020 miles

13,037 miles

RAC Hpi mileage check:

7,000

7,000

59,000

8,995

No service history available.

Am a bit confused, any help would be great.

Thank you for your reply. That is where I got the first set of mileages from.

Whats is the current mileage?

Looks like they've rounded it off, Assume 59000 should be 9000 and the last one might actually be true mileage, It might not have been used much over that year so stayed around 9000.

Certainly unlikely to have done 52k in a year lol.

what is the mileage on the bike now - MOT miles look realistic and is a reliable record

hard to believe the bike has done 52000 miles in one year

It looks like the DVLA made the error in mileage and corrected it a week later, Look at the dates.

Yeah go for the last ten years mot mileages they are most accurate

Can DVLA be contacted in regards to this and would they speak to me if I am not the registered owner. Am I being overly cautious. I mean, the guy has NO receipts, MOT's, SH anything apart from one BMW 12k service invoice.

is the seller the only owner or has the bike changed hands recently

There are 5 previous owners but again not out of the ordinary for a bike

Last year the stupid garage messed my mams miles up was supposed to be 53,000 but the idiots put 530,000 nothing we can do either.
Have you got the reg of the bike I'll double check it for you

Nothing unusual but DVLA and DVSA were a waste of time. Apparently nothing to do with them.

I'd be more concerned about the lack of service history for the first six years than an apparent discrepancy on the mileage. It may not have had an oil change in 12k even!

Edit: Perhaps a friendly BMW dealer could pull up a digital service record?

The mileage seems like a error or as a mate in the trade just told me, if its had a breakdown the RAC sometimes put the breakdown truck mileage as they cant read the bike;s if there is no power......

But would be very wary of no history at all , unless its a low price and you know what you are looking for , very rare with BMWs as they are usually very well looked after by caring owners, have you a link to the bike itself ?

Yeah the garage put an extra 5k on mine, might not seem like much but my car is low mileage and I only do 1.5-2k miles a year, so if I wanted to sell in the next few years it wouldn't have matched up. Luckily I noticed as I was leaving and they were closing and went back in, apparently they can only alter it within 24 hours so I was lucky and got it sorted!

Not our fault the dvsa took away the option in the new mot system to alter the mileage

Just calling BMW now.....nope cannot help as the only way to find out is to contact the BMW garage it was serviced at and there is no way to find out ALL previous owners. Flogging a dead horse here.
