Hi,

Normally when i order something online verified by Visa pops up but only asks for certain digits of my password (like 1st 5th and 10th) but I have tried to order something from a website today and it asked for my full password, i didnt enter it because i wasnt sure if it was quite right and i have heard about a couple of peoples having problems with this, does anyone know if this is fine and im being paranoid or if it shouldnt be asking me for my full password

thanks x

thanks for that, i read things and then get really paranoid, it was something on wikipedia about fraudulent websites so think im just being a bit over cautious, thanks again x

I never enter my full password. It only ever asks me for 3 numbers/digits from it. Be careful as im sure the whole verified thing will NOT ask you for full password. I have had in the past issues when my pc had malware on it, it asked me for full password, i contacted Natwest and they told me NEVER to enter full password. Worth a call to your bank/cardholder just to make sure ;-)

It may depend on what bank you use, i always enter full password im with HSBC

Depends on which bank - with Tesco finance they ask me for certain letters and with Sainsburys finance they ask for the full thing.

Same here with LloydsTSB

Natwest Verified By Visa is 3 charcters of my password, no matter what website Its bank dependant I think, since when i borrow my mum/dads card which are natwest too they only ask for 3 chars too

I've only ever entered my full password, I bank with HSBC and Santander.

It's site dependent. I'm with Lloyds TSB and i regularly get asked for 3 letters and full password.

i'm with natwest and its the first time ive ever been asked for my whole password so i think ill avoid that website from now on, thanks again everyone x

Why not post the site and others will give info on if it's legit from past experience or shady?

But even though several people have informed you it is you are going to avoid the website because it asked you for a full password

Natwest most deffo only asks for 3 digits of the password, so all those who call it paranoia... the OP is right to be cautious as its her finances that are at stake if it is dodgy.

halifax always ask for it all, but have noticed that other banks only ask for some

always asked for full password here (account with Nationwide) never had 3 characters. OP you're being ultra paranoid.

I get a mixture of 3 letters and the full password...

Its perfectly fine!

Barclays only ever ask for 3 digits - I would never input more than that.ever.
