    very cheap base unit

Hi all, I've been looking to get a cheap base unit to do me for the next 6 months,
    prefer one about £150,
my computer is 7 years old at moment so anything that works would be better than this one, (about 16meg of shared graphics) really bad I know,

I've been looking at the ones on this page,

This was a good deal..probably not around now but worth a check..and they may have an alternative in your price range ]http//ww…ion

We always found Novatech great for PC deals:

They are good for servicing prices too.

Misco are pretty good.. their Wintergreen offer isn't bad at all, though service isn't incredible.

Yes I agree with you palspay..but there is the added cost of a hard drive and CDROM/DVDburner to consider in these packages.

the medion is the only one to come with operating system, for the price doubt youll find anything cheaper anywhere.the 256mb memory is only worry ideally you want 512 but thats easy to upgrade if you find the pc slowng down.

how would i go about adding that in to the system, my computer got and extra memory thing(512 i think) added when i had it "FIXED" first time round, could that be used from this computer and put into the new one?
Blonde and Dumb when it comes to these matters, x

It depends on what kind of memory you've got in your existing PC. Some older types can't be fitted in newer machines and vice versa.
You might check it using Crucial website.

so would you all agree on the medion as a short term cheap, fully working unit for me x(ie. can use for basic internet and collage work, thats all we need it for --- oh and storing photos) x

Well... for el cheapo PC with no serious tasks to be run on, yes, the one for https://www.medionshop.co.uk/ukshop/mimes/medion/images/clearpixel.gif £ 139.99 should be fine. SiS-based motherboards are usually very stable. You can get DDR-3200 RAM 256MB for 25 quid off Crucial (and probably cheaper elsewhere). It got small hard drive but you can always add it later if needed. Graphics card is also not an issue as there is AGP slot.
And there is no way you could build similar spec machine yourself for this money.

thats great, put it on order xx

You've made the correct decision fizziebabes...extra memory would be desirable but you may find the supplied memory works fine for you..much depends on the demands you put on the PC.
