Unless they have warp speed then I don't think we will be bumping into them anytime soon, are they out there? Of course. could they travel to us? Unlikely, because they would have to be able to travel faster than the speed of light.

Why mess also, just make yourself known? Why the secrecy if they are advanced to travel this far, just my thoughts.

I love the subject, and ufo doc's and movies etc btw

Totally fascinated by UFO sightings / films, on one hand there has to be some other life out there but on the other everyone has a camera and filming take splace 24/7 around the world and even in space yet all we get are these grainy, out of focus, long distance shots that could be anything.

If there is something out there why haven't they made contact or made themselves visible?

Haven't watched the video, but why would aliens need any more technology than we have? They could have evolved quicker/earlier. To go long distances in space you just need a space ship which sends nukes out the back and rides the wave. We could technically do it but the resulting radioactive waste wouldn't be nice! Plus the faster you travel through space the faster you travel through time, which means that you'd feel like it took a year to get to a planet for example, but in reality maybe 1000 years have passed on Earth (and you couldn't go back etc!). If you were to travel the speed of light (impossible, everything that has mass can't travel at the speed of light, everything that doesn't have mass must travel at the speed of light) then you'd end up at the end of time and the end of the universe in a fraction of a second!

God and UFO's. Same nonsense just different nutjob's.

using Ion drive propulsion it would take 80,000 years to travel to the nearest star outside of our solar system lol.

Using nuclear propulsion as you suggested would take 85 years which actually surprised me because it is a short time in relation to the vast distance.

I will stick with my original statement though that unless aliens have warp speed (Which doesn't exist and may never) then I highly doubt we will be seeing them anytime soon, the distances are just too huge and the chances of bumping into another advanced civilization is remote.

Look trust me I hope I am wrong, I could think of nothing more exciting than an alien ship turning up, I don't think we will see it, I hope I am wrong. And that is working on the theory that there is indeed life on another planet in circulation round a relatively close star, even that is far from certain.

We have telescopes listening for the faintest of farts, I would like to think at least one would pick up a ship on its way.

I firmly believe life is out there of course, I have no doubts. It is a subject that we all wont agree on, even the experts wont

That's because of the way that space and time are related, effectively the same thing, or as Einstein called it "spacetime", one thing, not two. The faster you travel through space the further into the future you go. So you could travel from one side of the universe to the other and it would feel like just a few hours if you were going near the speed of light, but you would end up probably hundreds of thousands if not millions of years in the future.

So any aliens could easily travel here in their lifetimes, but the end result is them being pushed into the future, which means they'd have needed to set off a long time ago.

There must be a point where travelling slower actually gets you somewhere earlier, not quicker as such, but you'd arrive earlier than if you'd gone any faster.

I love science like this, amazing that it would allow us to travel vast distances in our lifetimes, almost like it's been designed that way as if time effected everything at the same rate then we'd never be able to get very far from earth at all.
