Virgin 3/3.5G is much better than 2/2.5G

This is just for information and wondering how come it is true..

When I use my virgin mobile sim in non-3G phone, I get barely any signal but using same sim in an HSDPA phone, signal is on its full strength (Better than vodafone, o2, 3 )

How come virgin's 3/3.5G is much better than 2/2.5G?? Does these two entirely different infrastructure and independent of each other? Why is voice signal pretty flat in same area where HSDPA is stronger than its counterpart.

    2(GPRS),2.5(EDGE)
    3(UMTS), 3.5(HSDPA)

3.5G is compatible with HSDPA enabled handsets otherwise its 3G depending on sim card - requires compatible handset. 2G standard, 2.5 is 'EDGE' - both nnow relatively archaic

    i think it makes sense

    huh ?

Virgin mobile is a virtual operator.
It uses T-Mobile's network to provide its service.
It could be that in your area T-Mobile's 3G network is better than its GSM network.

Ok it means at one place GSM can be better than 3G (which I always observed), and another place 3G is better than GSM.
