Virgin Cable Broadband Wireless Router Help

    Hello All,

A friend has just got allyours.virginmedia.com/web…227

Virgin sent out a free USB type modem. His needs have outgrown this and needs a wireless router that also includes a built in modem so more users can access the cable broadband internet from anywhere in the house.

Can anyone recommend a good choice that is relatively cheap that is compatible with Virgin cable broadband? Is there a good choice for under £30/35 delivered?

    Thanks

I don't think you can get a combined one, but you can use the Virgin modem and a standalone wireless router. The modem Virgin supply should have an ethernet port as well as usb, and it is best to use the ethernet (network) type connection. You then plug a standard router (not the adsl type) into the virgin modem. I use a Netgear WGR614 which is very good. This gives you wireless and 4 wired connections to PCs, and is very easy to setup with the supplied disk.

We called virgin and were advised to buy a Belkin G-Mode plus router - works well
