Virgin Media Broadband

I joined Virgin Media as Sky increased there prices and I told the virgin advisor I have no virgin white socket in the house and will need an engineer. The day of install virgin router arrived with a self set up instructions but no engineer bearing in mind I have no where to connect it. Phoned virgin and said oh we through you had a socket when i clearly said i dont now i have to wait for an engineer for another 3 weeks as none available and no broadband which i need for work an is vital for me.

Been on the ohone to virgin for last 3 days and all i get told we got you on a priority list and they cant do more.

Any advice on what i can do to speed it up?

Seems obvious. Order a business broadband package viia another provider. Business orders receive business-level service and a new line could likely be installed within a week, or less depending on the (dis)connection / cease status of the Sky line. Plus if ever there is an issue with your business service, you will receive business-level support. Most business providers will even guarantee a maximum four hour fault response time for a sub-£10 additional monthly maintenace fee.

This is why I left virgin. They are awful

In your situation I would probably have installed Virgin and then cancelled sky separately once it was working ok. Sorry not much use, a mobile mifi with lots of 4g data might well be a good stopgap

First poster nailed it, "was your Sky broadband through a phone socket" as Virgin ADSL would use the same socket.

Virgin don't sell adsl broadband any more

Spiders where do you live maybe I could help

I don't think I'm allowed to post his email address on here but a quick Google and it was found in a couple mins.

If you need any tips on how to search ask..... but it's literally what you asked me.

Good luck.

i have same problem, got delayed from 6 jan to 13 feb, got close to callin it all off but want to try virgin out with their 100mbps. switching from talktalk.

any1 with virgin experience any serious throttling or poor broadband service(not customer service)? if they throttle the speed down to 8mbps i would still be satisfied if its a few times a week thing for an hour for example.
ive heard people talk about horrible speeds all the time but just want to get more opinions

they also said i was on priority too but the main thing slowing them down was getting permission from the council. cant do much about that. try borrowing some temporary internet from neighbours is my suggestion

I was with Virgin for years. Downloaded loads. Never really had a noticeable problem.

Went to Sky fur a year avd Internet was diabolical. Krot freezing etc. (Tbf nor Sky's fault - I was over a mile away from junction box so promised 40mb was only about 7! !)

Back with virgin. 200MB. Superfast to say the least.

But I've noticed now and then it'll stick for a split second or two. .... but not an issue.

I've also read they do a 200MB gamer internet - no speed interuptions etc...

I'm happy with Virgin
