Virgin Media broadband... anybody got them to match Vodafone prices?

I'm currently with Virgin Media on SuperFibre 70 + Phone... only because it was quite decent deal for 12 months (I don't use or need landline phone at all)
Deal has now run out and price gone up almost double to £37.98.. in addition to that they have just sent me a letter advising further price increase by £3.49 which is way too much in my opinion. My Virgin contract runs out mid November or I can cancel it before end of October due to price increase.

I'm happy with service.. but obviously not the new price...
Vodafone seems to be offering 76meg fibre broadband for £28.00 a month (including line rental).. has anybody been successful to get Virgin to match this?

Regards
Seb

I am paying around £32 for 100mb + phone line currently with virgin media on new contract with Line rental saver. Also i got £60 credit when i asked for cancellation.

How do you get it for £32 inc line rental for 100mb?

Ring them up tell them you want a better price or you're leaving they'll usually give you one

First, i have placed my cancellation and was keep trying to their retention dept. to get a good deal. First they offered me £16 for 50MB with line rental saver but i have rejected and asked to keep my cancellation. After a week i have tried again and they offered me £11 for first 6 months and £14 for rest of 12 months with paying line rental saver £184 in advance. After few days, i have upgraded it to 100MB and by keeping same discount, £14.50 for first 6 months and £17.50 for rest of 6 months.
In average it works out around £32.

VM have totally lost the plot on prices, cramping them up over and over. Shame as I only use the broadband.

Following the price increase, I gave notice to disconnect. I was 7 months into my VM contract.

When I got a phone call, I told that BT infinity 2 was coming to around £11. After some negotiations I finally agreed for £15 for 50 Meg, without phone line.

My point is, why ask to price with Vodafone at a higher price when you can ask to price with their main competitor BT for much lower!

do the cancelation process, couple of days later you normally get a call to discuss reductions, about 6 weeks ago they gave us a double discount ended up paying less than we were before. now paying £22.25 for 150Mb broadband only

Well.. rang them first time 2 days ago... Bloke was offering me to stay on the same package for £31.00 per month.. but this did not seem very attractive really so I did not accept..

Today I have tried my luck again and got the deal for £21.00 per month for 12 months... SuperFibre 70 only.. got rid of the phone that I wasn't using anyway...

Quite happy with that... now just need to see that contract with my own eyes...

Update #1
Haha.. es expected... what was agreed over the phone and what came on the e-mail is different... typical..
Confirmation e-mail is saying VIVID 100 Optical Fibre @ £23.75 a month... and all applied discounts don't really add up
Looks like I have to call them again to clarify what is going on...

Same here. Got one upgrade deal over phone but a very confusing info over email to confirm what we agreed, which is not what we actually agreed. Will call and see what is going on!

I was paying £19.25 then the price hike kicked it to £22.25.
Decided to play the retention game and wanted faster upload speed if possible as I want to upload to youtube more.
Anyhow I was looking at Vodaphone 76Mbit down and 20Mbit up at £28 which I liked the sound of but would have to pay a £60 fibre line inststall fee and £50 connection fee so that annoyed me.
I phoned Virgin retentions today in hope of swinging a deal before taking the plunge and possible let down with Vodafone speed and got the following deal.

150Mbit down but I'm getting 165Mbit
Expected 6Mbit up like on 100Mbit but I get 10Mbit
Price: £26.25 for 6month then £29.25 for 6 month.
Not too shabby as Virgin have the benefit of reliability with me and free repair service.
