Virgin Mobile £70 ‘Contract buy out charge’ but already out of contract?

Posted 17th Dec 2020
Can somebody please help me with this, I am super confused...

I’ve been on a SIMO plan with Virgin mobile (12 month contract) from 16th Jan 2019 - Jan 2020. I allowed the contract to continue to roll over as I had a lifetime discount attached to the plan, which was quite good and was then placed on a 30 day rolling contract.

My allowance refreshes on the 16th of every month and I am billed on the 30th.

Recently I received a good deal from Vodafone so wanted to switch, I requested my PAC from Virgin on the 5th of this month and was all switched over to Vodafone for the 11th December 2020.

Upon checking my final bill Virgin have struck me with a £70 charge labelled ‘contract buy out charge’. How can I be buying myself out of a contract if I was out of contact anyway and not to mention £70????????

Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.
