Vista upgrade. Basic to Ultimate ... question

Got Vista Basic installed on a Dell, but have been given a copy of Ultimate. I want to install it, but if it impacts on performance I will want to revert back to Basic.

Bearing in mind, I don't have a full retail copy of Basic, just the Dell one, will I be able to revert back or will their be problems?

i dont see why installing from the dell disc wont work.

im sure it will be fine

    Should be okay...

do you have good specs to have ultimate? i have home premium and my laptop crawls even with 2gb of ram

Does it actually make a difference? If you turn off the new features on premium/ultimate (aero, caching etc.) then shouldn't they run as well as basic?

if you turn off aero etc then there's very little point in going to ultimate.

ultimate will use more resources but primarily the graphics side of it.
you will be able to go back to basic but only by doing a clean install.

Thanks guys. I guess its just a novelty. Given it so I thought I'd give it a go. Mightn't get areo going straight away with scores of 3.9 and 3.0 for the graphics side of things, but will be replacing the onboard VGA in the next month or so.

Just back from the match .......TOON ARMY

Yes, but if ultimate with the features turned off runs as well as basic it'll save you reinstalling basic and you will be able to turn aero back on in a couple on minutes when you do upgrade.

my notebook scores 3.0 for graphics and it runs aero fine
