I renewed my 12 month vodafone contract last january and bought a nokia 6680 refurb for £50 at the same...now vodafone are saying that my contract is 18 month and they seem to be saying that any nokia 6680 comes with this length of contract, i obviously never agreed to this but can't prove it....they are sending me a copy of my contract stating 18 months which I've never seen before but they say they sent with the phone, my not sending back after 14 days was me agreeing to the contract apparently......what can I do?

Have you no paperwork at all? Can you not ask they find any contact, or dig out the tapes if it was a phone call? Sounds like they're being bullies and really unfair
You're saying, they said, any 6680 comes on an 18 month; does that include refurbs too?

If they did not once mention 18month contract during the upgrade conversation nor in any subsequent correspondance afterward, you're perfectly within your rights to leave them and cancel the contract IMHO and should tell them so, in writing demanding they cancel asap.
They failed to sell a product "fit for purpose" a VERY important phrase with regard to sales laws in the UK, and fit for purpose in this context would mean you being fully apraised of all the important details of the contract and knowing the contract length.

If you come across and clear and concise, you should be able to cancel, and send the phone back.

PS: You can risk asking for a pac, but I personally would just leave them and lose the number.

They'll use your loyalty against you then and they win, from my pov.
Mention what i said but demand to xfer u to 12month contract, see what they say.

The lowest Flext contract from T-Mobile is currently £15 and you get more x-minutes and texts than that, plus you can pick up some very nice phones for free with the contract.

hmmmm......

Long term O2 and 3 seem to be the best for £25/month or less tariffs.

I have both
A 3 contract on T&T200 retention deal 11.5months free so no actual payment for 11months
An O2 contract on O2 500 retention deal £15/month (£25/month discount) that came with a free £400 phone
O2 and Three good for nice deals after 12months are up and not having to move to another network or deal.

I suppose low tariffs are good for low usage customers, but good retention deals are worth it in the end.

I just emailed the woman I've been dealing with at vodafone this....

ok now I understand....vodafone are terrible for upgrades, they don't do any free upgrades, the last time i tried the cheapest was £20 which was a bog standard phone free to all new pay monthly customers.

This may be off the mark here but you haven't since joined up to the vodafone stop the clock since you got your phone have you? I am on vodafone and when they brought out the Talk for 60 mins pay for only 1 min, i thought it sounded good...when i phoned up to ask about it they told me in order to get it i would have to extend my contract to 18 month's. i told them to stick it!

No bad experience with voda myself...infact instead of getting new handsets this year we agreed to a £15 a month per handset. and we get 250 texts and 200 mins rollover a month.

i had the same problem if i wanted to upgrade needed to go on a 18month contract so instead opted for the 10month half price line rental at £17.50 and i can upgrade at that point. On 400xnet and 100texts per month. They wouldnt give me stop the clock unless i left this tariff, too good to leave i think

I was a loyal Vodafone customer for 9 years and they treated me like dirt when I tried to leave - I think swearing actually ensued at one point, something I've never had to resort to except with credit card companies.
Quite simply they could not provide what I wanted but were refusing to set the wheels in motion for my departure, despite completing my 9th annual contract.

Having said that kudos to the staff in the Vodafone retail store in Lancaster as they were always very helpful and never pushy - even though they seemed pretty stressed and bored with dealing with problems all day long.

I didn't want to end my contract, just when we renewed the current contract.... we had been paying £30 a month for the same amount of texts and mins and my K750i is in good enough condition to not upgrade. so took the cheaper payments instead.....my contract is a voda business contract.
