    Hi adamck

Your best bet is to get a cheapo Voip ATA router. I can recommend this one here:

    digidave.co.uk/pro…ce6

    It's £17.99 + £8.00 postage, making it £23.99.

It connects to your router and you stick a phone in the other socket. So you can just use a standard DECT phone with it.

This guy is really good and he also sells some stuff via ebay, where you can sometimes find it cheaper than his shop. I've seen one of these sell for under a tenner, plus postage, so worth looking there. I've bought a few things off him and he is very prompt and technically sound.

This is the cheapest unit of this type I have found so far, and it gets reasonable reviews.

    Hope it helps.

Excellent price for such device. However, it is FXS only, so no PSTN passthrough.

This device is PC-independent, so you don't need to have PC at all. However, there is no FXO port, so you won't receive calls from PSTN if you connect your phone to it.

Given price constraints, I'd say the best solution is to buy this ATA and some el-cheapo DECT phone. I think these could be bought for a tenner or so. Then you can have one phone for your PSTN line and another for VoIP calls.
