Hi, can anyone help me work out if this is a scam?
I received an email today saying...
"You have been sent a John Lewis & Partners e-gift card from MY OWN NAME"
I had received £100 john lewis e-gift card from me (included my initials and surname). It told me to download the giftcard by pressing the black button and it also came with a PDF, which had a John Lewis 19 digit number and pin.
I did not press the download button but I check the 19-digit number and pin on the official john lewis balance checker site, which says it has £60 on it. The email said it was sent by me - so I checked my bank accounts and nothing has been taken out.
The email looked pretty real (I think I am pretty good at knowing what is dodgy!) but I am really concerned that somewhere along the lines, someone has my details and buying stuff - even though it is not coming up on my accounts :/
Anyone got any recommendations on what else I can do to check this out? THe obvious one being £100 does not equivalent to £60 in vouchers - not sure who to get in contact about this to report it.
