I hope they screw VAG, complete con!

Best of luck to volkswagen owners in getting compensation. UK owners should get similar compensation to other countries like the USA.

I wish someone would get together and do this for the Vauxhall Zafira it's a fire risk been recalled twice story's of them still catching fire. It's devalued my wife's car quite bad and insurance premiums have gone up by cheapest we could find £200 odd a year her old insurance wouldn't renew because it's a fire risk even after the recall work been done.

    Keep dreaming dudes..
They won't get any cash compensation..only support for their next purchase

September 2015 I took delivery of my new Skoda Octavia 2.0d. company car. (leased) A few days afterwards I received a letter telling me they had advertised the wrong emission levels of various engines. This was just before the emissions scandal was in the news.

They sent a cheque for £50 made out to my company (not the lease company) I contacted the lease company, who hadn't heard of this, bear in mind, the company is BIG. After a few emails, VW sent a cheque made payable to me personally. They did say, that by accepting this, I couldn't make a legal claim at a later date. My wife told me not to accept, but I thought £50 now, was better than possibly something in the future.

Await the cold calls, "Do you have a Volkswagen or Audi, You could be entitled to compensation". Zzzzz.

What is her revised market value? This scandal goes deeper than I could have ever imagined.

    KIA or Toyota, more reliable.

Oh. I love German brands. I could never imagine ruling out a high-quality brand purely based upon their nationality. That would be bizarre in 2017, no?

An Audi for a Kia? oO That would be like trading in a Bosch for a Beko. Each to their own, dave', but in my circle, it would be assumed that you had money worries.

oh is it about prestige, no cure for deluded brand loyalty.

Kia is a good alternative for reliability but sadly a friend of mine as just spent a small fortune at the chiropractors due to the crappy seats in his Sportage.

Kia actually use some Mercedes engines in their cars ;).

uk regulator/government are a toothless tiger.
unlike the american regulator, if they tell vw to bend down and they wouldn't say no.
vw are no good treat uk and usa differently, why paid compensation to usa and not uk driver?

Why? How many of your 'circle's' cars are owned outright? How many are leased? How many are company cars? It's a long time since the car driven was any indicator of a person's wealth.

A mix of all three. Beyond the badge and the price, there are other elements that any sensible buyer would take into account within what their budget allows. It depends what relative value you place on other aspects such as safety for instance. Not knocking other makes as everyone has to work within their means.

you're on a deals site, surely you like to get the best deal, which is the best car...the one with the most prestige, IE marketed as luxury?

"2. What will it cost me?
The litigation will be funded by a third party litigation funder. Accordingly, there will be no cost to you for joining or participating in the group action. If we lose the claim, the funder will lose all of its investment. To offset its risk, the litigation funder will take a fee from the compensation awarded if we are successful. You should however still receive 70% of your proportionate share of compensation. If we lose the claim, we will not charge you for our time or the costs we have incurred on your behalf. The funder will simply lose its investment."
Looks like the compensation amount, based on a smaller amount of that in USA, is in Small Claims jurisdiction for DIY.

In America they pay US$200,000/yr for engineers and they get top jobs in government for technical regulations, talk gobbledygook using numerical evidence; here in UK, they pay £100,000 for classics or history graduates in top jobs in government regulatory posts who read gobbledygook classics text and then talks in simple PR speaks; in Germany, they are good all rounders and look after each other in manufacturing and they will be making a lot of electric cars unlike the UK.

Jeez, can you imagine the adverts "Have I got Tdi.com"

The fake news newspapers and web sites are much more interested in beating up a welfare benefit cheat than a big corporate not breaking any laws ? yet hundreds of thousands of people feel cheated with this diesel scandal , is there a criminal law case here in the UK against German firms?
    .
See here for Bosch in dieselgate, they supplied much of the tech to VW telegraph.co.uk/bus…al/

Typical business culture; ambulance chasers but sadly ambulances for real financial slaughtering and members of the public still in blood pools of mortgage insurance premiums, payment protection insurance, this one alone is £33bn windfall , which takes more than a single phone call to sort out; just imagine if petty thieves had stolen £33bn, how many thousands of new prisons would need to be opeedn to house the thieves, yet NOT one banking person has been jailed.

why are you trying to turn his comment in to something it isn't?

we all know what he means by "german" hint hint it's where they're from
    Edited by: "dataload" 1st Mar

My mate ditched his Audi q3 for an Evoque because of the response of Audi to his questions and expectations . Reckons the evoque is a far far better car . VAG will do as little as the government lets them get away with and VAG will treat uk consumers with total contempt until sales drop off ..highly unlikely .

I'm not entirely sure what point you are trying to make. I replied "I love German brands" to Oneday suggesting other brands if "you don't like German." Straightforward, no?

I have always treated manufacturers MPG claims with a suitably large pinch of salt. I don't think most people give a fig, If I needed a diesel car for a longer commute I would happily consider one of the VAG offerings. Thankfully I don't so can enjoy a petrol v8 which also doesn't do the advertised mpg.
