It is worth it as gives you a sense of income. When I started, I worked at a fruit and veg shop and was paid
75p an hour. Every evening I would come home with bleeding hands from handling the wooden crates.
Gave me a sense of work ethic and work experience in dealing with people etc.. Unless you can get something better,
    don't ignore it. Good luck

    Ouch, I wouldn't bother mate. Wait until you're 18

and thats why the country is like it is, brits dont take the jobs, foreign people do, the brits moan and spit their dummy out, jobs lead to jobs it shows future employers you are willing to work and are capable of holding down a job, it also fills gaps in your employment history on your cv, i say go for the job and take any other training qualifications they offer use it for your advantage.

If you'd be willing to work for less than £4 an hour, more fool you

I don't think you get the jist of what people are saying.

Jump on it. At that age and probably paying no tax, it'll give great work ethic, experience and looks good on the CV when you want to get a job when at uni/college.

Exactly £135 per week flipping burgers will cure you for life!

Work it for a summer, go back to college and you will be much more motivated to do something with your life.

Just a heads up - my son worked there for about a year or so and was happy to do so for a while but they tend to do zero hours contracts so you didn't know from one week to next if you had a shift (and indeed money).

They often change when they want you in - or even tell you to go home as its not busy, My son stayed with them as he liked some of the people there and he thought it would be good to gain some experience and of course to get some money.

I think if it was a set contract for a set amount of money it wouldn't be so bad but they take advantage of people who are looking for a job/need the money - other places are the same.

The devil is in the detail with these job adverts - please be cautious and make sure you rea:)d them carefully and go for one that is going to suit you and pay you a reasonable amount for what you are doing (and try to avoid zero hours contracts if possible).

Good luck with the job hunting

Have a look at Wetherspoon pubs. They were paying me > £4 an hour while I was working there during my college days, also that may have included some sort of Central London bonus.

How do you know those posters are Brits and not foreigners? and perhaps if there were not so many immigrants willing to work for peanuts companies like BK would have to pay people a descent living wage.

I second this, I got paid £5 a day in my first summer job (I was 13, I know....cry me a river). It was great, out working with the adults and for the most part keeping up with them made me feel like a proper big bloke!! At the end of the summer hols my dad gave me £75, turns out they were paying me £10 a day after all, my dad got half ...**** lol X) The rest he kept for my keep!

Taught me a valuable lesson about getting straight what I was getting paid right from the get go!

Thats why I'm so minted now.....oO

What's a living wage for a 17 year old? They can't even buy fags or ale. £3.87 an hour is good for a 17 year old burger flipper.

If BK pays more for the staff wage, then prices for BK burgers will go up, and people will still complain about things being more expensive.

People want to be paid more. But don't want to pay more for things.
Higher wages come from charging customers more. (edited)
