Waitrose money off coupons/vouchers

In store Waitrose will accept any voucher / coupon for any item/s they keep in stock, regardless of what you buy, you dont have to purchase the actual item. They will add the coupons up & deduct the total amount from your bill. I know Tesco's used to also do this but stopped it a few years ago. Does anyone know of any other supermarket / store to do this ?

I always give money off coupons in at the check out in Tescos even if I haven't bought the item and they always take them as long as they stock the item, if they ever did query it I would say I simple forgot to put the item in my trolley and don't have time to wait around

:w00t: My local Tescos will no longer do this ! Maybe I should move !!

I handed some points coupons in to Tesco the other day and I had the items that I had given the coupons for. I had a couple of coupons for one product (ie 2 coupons for 1 pack of nappies) and the assistant was really funny with me and staring checking everything. Eventually due to the number of coupons I had and the queue getting longer he gave in and let me use them. How strict is that!!

I think it's fair enough if they don't accept coupons for things you haven't bought. Pretty cheeky to use them otherwise, it's basically theft.

My local Tesco does.

Come on Bristol Deal, how can that be theft? you offer the coupons and they choose to accept them Hows that theft? your not shoving the goods up your jumper and running off with them

So if a shop keeper gives you too much change should you

A. Go to jail
B. smile nicely and say thank you

Yes, which should have made it even clearer that I wasn't being serious. :-D

As I understand it Tesco will take vouchers to the value of 10% of the total bill regardless of whether you have purchased the items or not.

I thought that Waitrose only converted vouchers where you have purchased the goods.
