got a Bosch one. it's a bit more ...think I paid £35 on sale at b&q a while ago but it's great. got the light, hammer function lasts quite a while on battery life and charges pretty quick

It depends what he wants to do with it. A 3.6v screwdriver will be ok for constructing IKEA furniture but is not powerful enough to drive big screws into wood/walls.
However, a bigger, heavier duty driver/drill might be less than useful working in limited space.
Its horses for courses with tools.
