247ELECTRICAL.CO.UK HAVE CEASED TRADING. THIS IS THE STATEMENT ON THEIR WEBSITE

"Outkey Distribution Limited T/as 247 Electrical (247electrical.co.uk) enters administration

Wednesday 26th November 2008

Due to a major supplier entering administration on Friday 21st November 2008, 247 Electrical have been making extensive efforts to secure alternative supply and credit facilities to enable trading to continue.

In the current climate this has proved unsuccessful and, having exhausted all options, the company has had to cease trading.

A further statement will be issued tomorrow with relevant contact information."

Hi all

Some of you may or may not be aware that I have recently been shafted by 247electrical.co.uk. I ordered an item on 14th October and have had the item delayed 3 times to date. Now I can't access their website and all of their contact numbers go straight to answerphone. Unfortunately, I made the ultimate mistake and paid by Maestro Debit card, so I am up s*it creak without a paddle.

Their website is down at the moment, but if it does come back online, please bear my works of warning in mind before making any purchases.

Thanks

Foxy

only thing is to keep hponing till you get through

If you paid via credit card, your money should be safe under section 75.

Debit card im afraid. I was always taught, 'if you can't afford to buy it, don't buy it'. That was clearly flawed advice.

What type of debit card?

HSBC Maestro

I've never understood people's logic in using debit cards. Get yourself a good interest paying current account and a cashback credit card. Then pay for everything on the credit card and set up a DD to pay it off in full at the end of the month. That way you earn cashback on what you buy and earn some interest on your cash while it's sat in your account. It's a no-brainer, as they say.

Advice was good but you should always pay online with a credit card IMHO and ensure you pay the bill promptly.

Yup, I think debit card way of doing things is old fashioned and out of date these days, I agree with the sentiment of it but with some self control your much better off with a casback credit card and paying off the balance each month - this way you make money & are better protected at the same time.

I only us my debit card to get cash out now every card purchase is always done via a CC and paid off.

Just been doing a google search. Read the last post - sounds like your problem
forum.pricerunner.co.uk/thr…741

Again using google I found this link shop.247electrical.co.uk/ which does work and gets through to their site. However, if you click on anything to buy, it does go back to the technical difficulties page.
Could always be that the site is down for technical reasons as they say. I tried the "contact us" link but it does the same.
At the very bottom of the page, it does say © Outkey Distribution Limited T/as 247 Electrical.
Registered in England, number 3821475. Don't know whether that may be of some help

I think this site is part of the Co-Op ?

I managed to find the email address of the boss of the company Dominic Yacoubian [[email protected]] in case anyone is interested. His email back to me said:

'We have been experiencing some issues over the past few days but our customer services will be keeping all customers updated once we understand the situation better.

Best regards

Dominic Yacoubian

Managing Director'

I am a bit concerned about the phrase 'once we understand the situation better'

HSBC Maestro

With a Visa debit there's possibility to do a charge back, not sure about the Maestro

I too also purchased a cooker from them last week and received the same email stating my order has been delayed, again cannot access their site and emailed the MD to receive the exact same email stating the technical problems with their web site. I also called the number again unobtainable, any idea what to do next?

I have just received this email from Dominic Yacoubian [[email protected]] they have gone into administration: See email content below.

In the current climate this has proved unsuccessful and, having exhausted all options, the company has had to enter into administration and have appointed David Hudson of Begbies Traynor and they have recommended the company enters liquidation.

A meeting of creditors is expected within the next 10 days and creditors will be notified accordingly.

At this stage we still hope for a successful rescue for the company but in the meantime we are not trading and suggest all customers with outstanding orders contact their card issuer in the first instance.

All enquiries should be made to the administrators, Begbies Traynor.
