Totally agree, they are rubbish. Also, don't forget to do your research on which set alight, not sure if that's just tumble dryers though?

I have one hotpoint and it is very good. 11kg washing and 9kg drying.

Some Samsung's have 5 year guarantee on at the moment.

Does the dryer fully dry the clothes or still leaves damp? And do you have the model please, thanks

Thanks for feedback so far, I am prepared to spend up to £700 for a reasonable machine I need the dryer because I live in studio and clothes rail takes up too much room nice to be able to just wash and dry the clothes in 1 and put away straight from the drum

If you haven't got the space for both get a hoover one. My past experience combos are rubbish but my mother in law just got a hoover and it seems to dry the clothes pretty well.

This was the one she got

The one we got a little while ago is great - very rarely doesn't get the clothes dry enough to put away and even then it's because a sock or something similar is screwed up in a tight ball etc.

No idea where you get your info from but washer dryers these days are far from rubbish. Having always had a washer dryer I can see from experience they have improved immensely in the last 10 years. my previous one was a zanussi which although unreliable was an excellent washer dryer. I've now had a Samsung since April and would definitely rate it as very good. washes well and has plenty of options for your preference of drying.

Regarding the hoover washer dryer both my brothers have one and even though it was silent and really good at the beginning a year on they've got very noisy and the plastic things inside the drum keep falling off so the clothes snag on it.

Any lg would be my preference as they're supposed to be the most reliable right now but I've ended up with a Samsung 12kg blue crystal door one and I'm happy so far.

If you're only washing for one you won't need larger than 6kg but remember a dryer will take half that load so 3/4kg

    hope that helps

Have an Indesit since 1999, only broke down once in 2010, required new brushes and still going strong. Noise during spinning cycle is an issue though!
