Washing Laundry - what do you use?

I've always used powder, and it's always been ASDA's own, but this last box full has failed to dissolve in the wash, and I've noticed significant fading in the children's clothes - so I'm thinking of changing. Just wondering what everyone else uses (or what their Mum uses!) and if they would recommend it.

    Thanks.

Thanks, anything specially designed to stop fading?

Use Surf liquid, was sick of powder build up in drawers from tablets, tried gel capsules, but they don't alwas dissolve, find liquid the best, and makes the clothes smell nicer!

arent the colour ones supposed to stop that, have to be honest and dont notice any fading using any of the ones i have used

Persil Colour for darks and colours (obviously) and Persil Non Bio liquid for whites.

    Bold 2 In 1 Lavender & Camomile Gel 667ml ( 18 Washes )

Is like a gel you put in the cap and then put the cap into the washing machine with clothes.

I use Morrisons non-bio powder and it's fine and I haven't seen any fading.

I think that fading is more to do with the clothes than the powder, a 'delicates' liquid and a wool wash cycle, in the machine, will reduce it.

Ido on average 3 loads a day and swear by ariel actilift gel, half price at Sains http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a025.gif

I find that powder sticks in the drawer and sometimes the clothes have it on them when I do a quick wash/

I use the gels (sooo many have i had free and dirt cheap with coupons, thank you supersavvyme) But i've ran out at the mo so I have just started on the Tesco tablets from a couple of months ago (25p a box if anyone remembers) and my washing machine drawer gets fusty, i'm not impressed so its gel gel gel for me.

So with this actilift gel I'm tempted... it does not fade your colours? Or do they do one for colours?

Non bio wont fade as much as bio as it doesn't have the bleaching agents in it that bio does.I use bio powder (tesco value) on my whites as i wash them at 60c so no worries about the powder not disolving.Lights i wash with surf liquid (it's a bio too so will keep the colours bright) but cos its a liquid I can wash on lower temp.Darks I use Persil non bio as this will keep the colours longer.

sounds like you have it on too hot. Never had fading before.

I practically always use EASY CARE setting on 40C Degrees, sometimes 30C. Always Low spin speed so I never have to iron anything. Just hang it up when finished in the airing cupboard.

use liquitabs with ariel stain removing powder.

    will try the actilift

I do everything at 30deg. Just seems to be the kids stuff that fades - and I always wash inside out. Maybe their stuff gets washed a lot more, or it's just chepa crap to begin with!

    Where are the clothes from?

The kids stuff... mostly ASDA George... few bits from Tesco - but the George stuff fits better. Posher stuff doesn't get washed or work as often - hence no fading!

OK so I bought some Persil small and mighty, got the liquid and the powder too. The stuff for colours. I've got the first load with the liquid in the machine, and I'm confused. It says to put the liquid in the drawer - which I did, but it ran straight down and into (presumably) the machine. Surely that's not right... the powder stays in the drawer until it gets to the right time, then gets flushed in. Have I done something wrong? Hvae to wait to see if it comes out clean. Had some pretty grubby stuff in there...
