washing machine problem - anyone know anything about them?

I've got a hotpoint washer dryer and the problem is with the tumble dryer side of it.

I can put the dryer on and it will partly dry the clothes but if i try to put it on again they come out hot but soaking wet. very frustrating!

Anybody on here got any ideas as to what it could be? a blocked filter? faulty pump?

any advice appreciated

Probably is one of the two things you mentioned. Have you checked the filter to make sure? It sounds like there is water trapped between the drum and the pump. Standard washing machines do exactly this if the filter gets clogged with fluff and debris.

Haven't checked it because i'm not really sure where it is, would it normally be easily to gain access to?

at the bottom of the machine there should be a bit you can pull down ( a flap about 4 - 6" high)inside there there may be a button you can tuer to let water out (and anything that is caught) I ioften find paper clips and electrical bits, the off 5p) be careful to have towels on the floor to take up the water when it it opened though

As Octobergirl says.

Afterwards, when you have put everthing back, put a few panloads of water in the machine and give it a fast spin to clear any remaining water and fluff in the waste pipe.

There is no flap or access panel on the front of the machine, will this be at the back then? looks like i'll have to try and pull it out, it's well wedged in where it is!

Have you checked the flange?

Not sure what a flange is but it sounds a little rude that's why I said it.

Sorry

It could be. You'll probably have to unscrew the back if there is no flap. In that case look for a plastic / rubber tube (usually grey) going from the machine to the pump. Release one of the jubilee clips or whatever holds it in place and ease the pipe off. This should clear the waste.

ok cheers, i'll have a look at the weekend

yeh i have a washer dryer hotpoint one. had mine a month before this happened. mine also kept overheating (soaking wet boiling hot clothes) and kept shutting off when drying saying F13. a man came out to fix it. he had to take top off and replace some fan or something. works fine now (might be a total different problem than yours)

Thanks, i hope i don't have to call anyone out and it's something i can fix myself, i know how expensive these sort of things can be!

I was surprisedflange got passed the swear filter on the site..

Classy.

isnt it flangee?, or was that just phoebes accent,]
Big question here is it a condensor or does it vent outside, if so check the outside vent is clear
if it was blocked filter surely the washer wouldn't empty either? so the logic is the drier condensation has to go somewhere, on ours it collects in a removable plastic thing(bottle??), on others its flushed down the waste pipe
So if not above either condensor has failed or it uses a smaller pump only for the drier side which has failed(unlikely but poss)
