    Website design help and questions.

Hi. My website design knowledge is basic. I "get" html but can't make the jump to a design that doesn't look mickey mouse.

I want to create a website to show off my photo galleries and to keep it as easy to maintain and use as possible i only want a few pages. (ie. Home page, photos, about me and contact). The photos page would contain links to the photo galleries that would be created using simple viewer.

Currently, i have an idea of how i'd like the website to look, see here i61.photobucket.com/alb…jpg

Could anyone give me pointers/code on how to achieve a look like this? I've got dreamweaver and notepad at the ready!

In addition i'd also like to make a flash/gif file in the main centre space of a selection of images in a slideshow-esque format.

    Thanks for any help/advice

    sorry typo.
you can do this with html.
it has an imbedded flash slideshow in it

This is a freebie Javascript that you can use

    Good luck

You could have a simple HTML page with photo thumbnails and then use something like lightbox to show the full images, tis a nice javascript image viewer. Or if you have photoshop, bridge CS4 has a built in flash or HTML photo gallery which is easy to maintain. Other than that there are hundreds of flash galleries out there it's just trial an error trying them all out until your satisfied =]

Have a look at my website. I'm no genius when it comes to design etc but I prefer a simple look

I added some Flash galleries at the weekend - please wait a minute or two for all the images to load (when they are all loaded it will look like a stack of photos) , I am still working on speeding it up and may switch to Java instead of Flash

I downloaded the gallery files from here - paulvanroekel.nl/pic…sa/ and modified them to my liking

But as I said, Flash is a pain and I think I can achieve a smiliar effect with Java a lot quicker

i be back in 2 hours, if you haven't solved it, i will take a look at your source code

btw i code in html, php and css

Tbh, i don't know the intricate differences between IE and FF, other than my website looks ok in FF

My CSS validates ok, but i'm having issues with the html, mostly centred around the embedded flash file. Non of these issues seem to point to the nav bar tho....

Any help will be greatfully received.

    thanks!

    op ........ try adding to #page-wrap .....

    margin-right:25px;

that should make IE show it in a line,

try my idea above ........ basically IE runs a different engine to FF ...... and IE doesn't conform to the w3c standards... basically IE ignores some of the code so you need to pauh it into IE :
