>easiest and best

Well the easiest may not be the best.

And the best may not be the easiest.

Most people in the business use Dreamweaver but it is not cheap, and there is a learning curve.

Design - photoshop
build & upload - Dreamweaver

for both you would need to know the basis of web design

For a begginner use MS frontpage

Why suggest FrontPage?

The last release of Front Page was 2003 and it that time Microsoft have not developed it any more and in fact have stopped selling it.

It also created awful non-standard HTML code.

About 2 years ago Microsoft replaced it with a suite of products called Expression, and the web design part is called Expression Web.

It does look somewhat like Front Page, but Microsoft make a big point that it generates standard code.

>Front Page is normally on most PC's already

Is that true, I dont think so.

The super-easiest way is to get Mr Site and transfer your domain name. You don't have to know anything at all about how to do stuff on the net - just pick a template, add some text and pics, then badabing badaboom you have a website. can even add a paypal shop in a couple of clicks.

Check out mine to get an idea of what you can do when you know absolutely sod all about websites - it's not too bad!

Agreed. Awful software. For free, Coffee Cup is ok, but quite limited. Dreamweaver all the way for me.

The best way is to open notepad and code it yourself. WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs produce terrible code and you will not pass most of the web standards.
I use dreamweaver but in code view so i have control over the coding.
What ever you do, do not use frontpage.

Website designers are not expensive anymore unless you go to a very well established company.
consider that option only on the basis that your website represents you and people judge on looks.

Hope this helps

While this may a good suggestion for someone who knows HTML and CSS well, it is hardly a good suggestion for someone who says they want something that is the "easiest".

If you want someone who knows more about web design then just Photoshop and dreamweaver then you have to pay ... I'm talking about customer experience, usability, accessibility, shopping journey and best practice in general - that's the stuff which makes you a good web designer :-D

Hosting on servers and the root directory you store your files will be different for each host.

Is this what you're referring to?

You need to upload into the folder www

I assume your domain is pointing to your host (or are you using the same company for both?)

OK, then it should be the folder I suggested.

They also have ]their own forum - which for this stuff, may be more useful.

Web Authoring: Dreamweaver
Web Graphics: Fireworks / Photoshop
Browsers: Safari, Firefox and of course Internet Explorer... Because there are ALWAYS differences across platforms!
FTP Uploads: WinSCP

name your homepage 'index.html' then when you type your web address that will be the page that is displayed.

put it in that public_html folder i think.

Thats how some of the pros do it.

They create the entire website design graphically (like a magazine cover...pixel perfect) then switch over to Dreamweaver to begin the coding.

You should start with wireframes, then move onto the actual design in photoshop -> slice the final designs and you're ready for coding :-)

Sounds rather simple, how do I slice, though?

all you would do is create the layout how you want it in photoshop ........ then cut the image up into seperate images

then use html coding to put the images into an order entheosweb.com/pho…asp

anyone needs help with website coding, i can help
