# Website space question

I'm adding new pages to a friend's website. The site already has 710,145 bytes on it of the 10mb available (free space from ISP). Does this figure mean there is about 3mb free or are my calculations incorrect?

710 145 bytes = 0.677247047 megabytes (so just under 7MB)

so yea, just over 3MB left

10MB (megabytes) is 10 MILLION bytes = 10,000,000 bytes

You have used about 700,000 bytes (about 0.7MB) so less than 1MB.

So you still have 9.3MB left.

So you have only used about 7% of the 10MB space, you still have 93% of the 10MB space left.

:?

Lol, think he got a little confused by the end, but I think we can still give him some marks for showing his working out

Sorry guys, but I cant figure out where I have gone wrong.

I double checked my figures before posting to make sure I was right.

Is 710,145 bytes about 0.7 of a MB?

And he has 10MB, so by my reckoning has used less than 10% of it.

Help me here guys.

You are right with the amount he has left, I think you confused people with 2 different figures..

He has 10mb

He has used 0.71mb

He has 9.29mb left

in your first post you put 710,000 bytes = just under 7mb (should be 0.7 as in the second comment you made)

Simples

Oh I see.

The first line of my append was quoting the first poster who got it wrong. Which is why I put a ">" next to it.

I was quoting that line to show how he got it wrong and then correcting him.

Next time I will use the proper "quote" button !

Ah, guilbert this is what was confusing:

I see, you were quoting him... I see now. And yes, 710,145 bytes = 710
