Weekend in London with the kids.......

Got a weekend book in London with my 2 Kids (9+12) and need some good tips on deals/things to do. Would like a bus trip, London Eye, Dungeons etc. Any good offers?
Will be in May though when they are on their break.

Thanks

Hi try www.daysoutguide.co.uk/ , some good deals on there. 2for1

To save the cost of those expensive tourist buses, use the extensive bus/ tube network.

TFL produce a very helpful map at tfl.gov.uk/ass…pdf which shows the attractions and tube stations/ bus routes. "Old" routemaster buses still operate on parts of the 9 & 15).

The 9 & 12 year olds travel for FREE on London buses. (although this changes from 1st June - where the 12 yr old will need a Zip Oyster card tfl.gov.uk/tic…spx The 9 year old will also travel on the tube for free as long as they accompany an adult with a ticket.

Adult Travelcards cost £5.30 off-peak* for the central areas and £1 off-peak ** for the 12 yr old.

* Off peak is after 0930 Mon-Fri and anytime weekends and bank holidays
** The kids for quid is available only to Travelcard holders - including 1 day Travelcard holders.

The tube system can be a pain at weekends due to engineering work, so go to www.tfl.gov.uk/check for details of planned engineering work.

Look at daysoutguide.co.uk/ lots of 2 for 1 offers with train travel. If you're not travelling by train, you can buy a local London train ticket (eg Waterloo to Vauxhall) for £1.90

You must see a show!!!
If you go to the box office on the day i think i'm right in saying you can get some really good deals.

If you go to London Eye site and book in conjunction with other things ( Tussaud, boat trip, King Tut. etc.). You can often get a deal.

i recomend wicked its great! also if you're traveling via train keep the tickets as you get 241 in a lot of places!

I think the open top bus tour is great theoriginaltour.com/ as it has a hop on and off service, includes a free walking guide and free cruise on the Thames for about £20 an adult and on the day you can upgrade to the choices menu and get a £3 fish and chip meal or afternoon tea. Cheaper options are getting a one day travel card after 9.30am from the train station to use on all buses and trains. £8 per adult and free for under 10's and £2 for under 16's. The no 15 bus stops outside Oxford circus and Marble Arch tube stations and goes to Tower Of London past alndmarks such as Trafalgar sq, St Pauls, Aldwych law courts etc. Also the museums in Kensington i.e. Natural History, science and V and A are free, beside each other and are very near South Kensington station. Two for 1 offers for towere of london on daysoutguide.co.uk/Tow…don (just show your travel card). A lot of theatres do £20 top seat theatre tickets about noon on the day of a show-you need to go in person to the theatre box office to get the deal. May and June are often quiet time for the theatre and it is worth keeping an eye on tikcetmaster.co.uk for last minute deals at the moment. Hyde Park (Marble Arch tube) is lovely that time of year for a walk and you can walk through it to Kensington Gardens and see the Diana memomorial park and visit Kensington Palace (charge for Palace tour only). More expensive but your children if into scary things might like London Dungeon. daysoutguide.co.uk/Lon…eon for 2 for 1 offers. Besie London Bridge station. Madam tussauds (wax works models daysoutguide.co.uk/Mad…uds for 2 for 1 offers. Beside Baker Street station. London Zoo daysoutguide.co.uk/ZSL…Zoo ( 2 for 1). As someone posted previously you are best to get a tfl map printed off in advance and plan your day and then you can get the most out of your short visit to the capital. Camden Lock is very vibrant and alternative (camden station) and full of unusal items.
