Weird Insect Bites Turned Into Blistering Lumps

Found 3rd Jul 2009
My daughter was bit by some sort of insect
she woke up this morning
with red marks she said they werent itchy
hours later at school they sent her home saying she had these blisters and she said that sh had 4 this morning and then 5 at school
hoped they'd go down and took advice from chemist who gave me some antiseptic which she applied for 3 days no improvements!
later on
i was bit by something and my daughter saw and reckons its the same that bit her
i only have little red marks which are going down
should I be worried?

Is asking a Dr an option you've considered?

i would go with that suggestion too, i was allergic to any bites and came out in lumps that would last for weeks and itch and weep, someone said take antihistamines and i've never looked back.

My son has about 10, they come up every year (at this time of year) and school always ring me to say he has chicken pox. I don't think anyone has had chicken pox 4 years running!!

Anyway, after the obligitary trip to the doctors, it turms out to be Moluscum, which gets passed to children by chewing pencils or dribbling etc. They are harmless, take a while to go away, don't itch or anything, and usually dry up after they have blistered.

His friend has them now (only about 6) so guess its starting to pass around.

i got bitten 2 nights ago by what i think was an earwig!!
got 2 little marks and a bruise from it
hope u daughter is feelin better soon
could u give her anti histamine to sooth the itching?

oops sorry already been suggested

Piriton tablets for 3 days will sort that out. I react terribly to bites, even to the point of hospitaliation once. Anti histamine tablets will work.

Anti histamines...and bite cream

I very much doubt you or a dr can assure that without seeing the child, she could have infections brewing, anything. My son (14 months) just had a nasty reaction to an insect bite, ended up in hossy a few weeks ago for shots, his lymph nodes were badly swollen, luckily being a nurse (child branch) I saw the early signs...................................

You wrote allergies...the treatment for allergies is antihistamines.

lol:-D

I'm thinking possibly the child has been scratching the bites and so irritated them, I find a gentle antiseptic helps ease the discomfort and cleans the area, an antihistamine would help stop the itching ( and so encourage her not to scratch them any more ). You dont want her to scratch them as you dont want to introduce an infection into the break in the skin.

Other than that just keep an eye on them and if you're at all worried call nhs direct or your doc xx

Op's child has bites and is showing a nasty reaction, blisters forming lumps, more appearing.Maybe something and nothing, it's always best in a young child to seek medical advice ASAP, better safe than sorry. In a child things can deteriorate. at a a rapid rate, always be over cautious with a child, we would rather see them and clear them, than see them later and ill

We? as in who?
So was your son ok? What did they do for him? Was he given anti virals? antibiotics?

I don't see what your point is...you said allergies...I said treatment for allergies is antihistamines. Then you went off on one.

Glad to hear he was ok in the end.

Ps...I'm training I work for a hospital pharmacy...I'm interested in drugs....jez...that sounds wierd.

Sorry to be snappy this is my profession but it's hit quite close to home recently, just made me jumpy, if I can avoid any parent going through what we did for 48 hours, I would! He is thank god after putting me through meningitis and septicaemia hell, when it was a bite all along, that made him so sick!

you musta been so worried hon....

don't worry now he's gonna be just fine x x

Oh, I agree, I'd be exactly the same, gosh and his appetite is taking this long to return? Well, its been hot weather too and that puts them off eating. Are you going to take a holiday soon? Might be good for him to have some convalescence time. Make sure he is drinking lots and lots x x
