Well done Iceland Foods my new favourite supermarket
Iceland foods is to stop using palm oil in own-brand products by the end of 2018.
The Deeside-based chain - the first major UK supermarket to ban palm oil - said it was used in more than half of its products, from biscuits to soap.
Iceland said growing demand for the oil was devastating tropical rainforests across southeast Asia.
The frozen food specialist said it was alerted to the environmental challenges that palm oil presented by campaigners at Greenpeace.

What's wrong with it? Thai chicken curry is nice.
Do you trust their treatment of the animals when alive? I don't and they are one of the biggest exporters of chicken meat in the world, lots of ready meals and processed chicken products in this country contain Thailand chicken, the two biggest you will find actually amongst frozen chicken based goods is Thailand and Poland, if I'm buying frozen I avoid Thailand.
I've avoided their farmed prawns after watching videos of how thats produced, not good and has a bad effect on the environment in many ways.
I'm not on about all that. I just mean Thai curry is nice. Rightly or wrongly, ethics about how their food is produced isn't at the forefront of everyone's mind.
Sadly if it was, we'd all be living on recycled cardboard!
It should be as we can only affect things by voting with our cash
They deliver now and they are part of the EU so no import duties
They aren't part of the EU...
Yup, certainly dont want seafood from the far-east. Iceland blatantly deceives its customers.
Yes but they are part of the EEA and EFTA though.
Yeh they are part of EFTA and the EEA.
Thanks,
MSK.
And don't forget the leeks!
pfft who needs veg when you can buy a party size box of tiny desert thingies.
What do you expect for £1
So because it's £1 they're entitled to put whatever they want in it?
Still got a couple of packs of the Aldi 19p leeks
and some little baby ones grown myself
Six thumb sized eclairs is a party now is it?
Drop me some round. Fancied leek and potato soup. Missed all the cheap veggie deals over Easter being stuck here with a broken ankle. I am thinking of suing my stairs for loss of bargains.
Oh no bad stairs.
got about twenty need to get my bottom in gear
They might be a bit wee to eat yet. Ready for Christmas dinner maybe?
About that yeah
You get what you pay for, meat is expensive so if your paying £1 you’re getting the finest stuff barely fit for human consumption. The rest of the leftover animal parts goes for cat/dog food, the meat is sold as joints. Want good meat by a joint or breast.
I can't even get out in the garden at the moment. Tried it but I fell out of the back door. Crutches are harder than they look. Got out eventually but then the puppy fell in the pond and I had to rescue it. All without putting any weight on the broken ankle. It was too traumatic
just grow things in pots and hope it drys out.
Planted up some lovely planters end of last year. Can't see a single one of them from the safety of the kitchen. All I can see from the living room is the fact the lawn needs edging
Yeah tried doing some of that last week just clumps of wet clay
what am I supposed to do with that ? oh well the rubarb is up and the tulips look nice if the sun comes out.
I planted rhubarb last year but it is too far down the garden to see if it is coming up yet. Should love this weather
Yeah replanted mine two years ago one root seems to have given up but the other is sprouting now.
Might venture down the garden tomorrow and have a butcher's then. I paid a couple of quid for that crown. Need to check on my investment
Paid a pound for mine but really it should be free ?
you just need a bit of root ?
i know. Never paid for rhubarb before in my life. Kinda assumed you just had it if you had a garden. Bit like weeds. I must have the only garden in West Yorkshire without rhubarb
I have relatives with rhubarb so a waste of a quid really
did have an adventure with it on the way home '
not going to share that however
sounds so wrong
wonder if Iceland sell rhubarb????
Mysupermarket says 'no'
No results were found for 'Rhubarb' in Iceland.
