we're thinking of getting a dog but want to be sure first, is there anyway we can spend sometime with them before buying?

I want to rent a dog as sort of like a trial, for my brother, who can't decide whether he likes dogs or not, so I want to rent one for a couple of days, does anybody know where and how I can do this?

Pinch one off the street, you could even ransom it to cover the cost

A Katie Price kind of dog or a dog kind of dog?

renting one is a more responsible option, that way I can give it the love and attention it needs, when I can actually give it to it, and also just to see if my brother likes then (me and my mum love dogs)

Yeah, but wouldn't it cut down on the number of abandoned dogs if potential owners could try having one first, what are you ment to do at the moment if you get a dog and then decide its not for you

Agreed, if he isn't sure then he shouldn't bother. Op sounds about 12 though that kind of question so hopefully his mummy and daddy will have some common sense.

If he just wants to see if he likes dogs then why not help out at a local dog rescue centre

Whet does the dog do the rest of the time when you don't have time for it. It's not like renting a DVD or something.

if you have doubts that a dog isnt right then it definitely isnt,

thanks; I didn't think of that, but that's a good point to make, if everyone rented a dog for a few days before they bought them, then we wouldn't end up with the amount of un-wanted dogs in the world, especially if you can rent an adult dog; so you can experience what a dog is like after the 'puppy for christmas' novelty has worn away...

You do realise the op is about 15...maybe take that into consideration before posting

He's 15 actually but I guessed at 10 going on his other threads. Take a look. Its something my 7 year old nephew would come out with.

not really; after re-thinking, this service would benefit the majority and prevent abandoned dogs worldwide....

Surely this should be a decision your parents should be making , as it will be them who will really be looking after it , feeding it, paying for vet bills etc .............one to leave for the grown up i think

At 15, I think I had the intelligence not to mess around with animals.
A 'rented' dog is a really stupid idea. By renting a dog, you're not only opening yourself up to the kids crying every five minutes when the 'rented' dog has to leave, but your messing with the animals instinct to form a bond with it's owner.

You/your brother want to get to know a dog? Go to a rehoming centre and spend a few days with them.

In the middle of the night crap in your brothers bed...........if he doesn't like it then he won't want a puppy. HTH

    I suggest you re-think again
