I agree the fees are way to high...nowt to list most the time now tho...still not the same

eBay is just getting a bit ridiculous

full of scammers, rude people, and eBay themselves are taking the P with their charges!

but there you go, what can you do! Better to list some things on HUKD although there are much less buyers :-(

    shame that...

Ugh sorry to hear you had that experience Tracey, Ive had some very rude sellers too.

I was looking for cheap but real cartridges for my son's Gillette Mach 3 ..something or other, (green with orange, and it buzzes), and I got them for under £6 for eight, on Ebid! On Ebay they were a few pounds more. So, try Ebid, they don't charge listing fees, so it seems to help keep prices down!

I've seen that a lot... I don't even think it's seen as a scam or way of tricking people considering how many people do it. Although, his reply was unacceptable.. I say, put him in a microwave with a can of deoderant

It's not allowed, it's fee avoidance, so you can report it for that too.
No doubt he will get negs anyway, people don't like high postage.

Looks as though they have already pulled it, what was the item number I'll report it. people like this really annoy me. I wouold say it is the other way round, in that people know what the rules of ebay are generally if they don't like it they should try and sell elsewhere.

    There is a problem though.

If the item arrives and not as described, you can wave goodbye to your £29.99 postal charge. You would have to pay for return of postage and they refund you the £1 for the cost of the item.

I thought ebay had clamped down on this practice (obviously only to get a higher percentage and not for the above and to protect the buyer.)

I rarely use ebay now, but when I do, I never buy from anyone using high postage - regardless of what the final figure ends up being.

yes, but people should always check the postage before buying the item

good point, but I thought paypal protect you for what you paid, the only thing you'll lose is the cost of return postage (which won't be £29.99)

Unless the rules have changed, I dont think thats the case. Someone will no doubt be able to clarify.

On a side note, yes, people should always check. However the rules shouldnt be broken either! Ive found myself bidding on something coming to the end in error (ie I thought it was a different seller - but the bumpf looked similar and got drawn in!)

Which IMHO is wrong. Sellers have to factor into the deal the cost of postage. Selling a DVD for 50p isn't a good idea, when it costs you 75p to post and 20% fees to paypal and eBay. Strangely games aren't covered by this? (oh and then you get forced to refund, cos your free post didn't cover recorded delivery!)

It's no different to charging £30 with £1 postage is it? It's the overall cost that counts. Fee avoidance is to be commended, not condemned, it keeps prices down.

I expect he just gets peed off with people poking their noses in and trying to police a site that makes excessive and gratuitous profits out of their exorbitant monopolistic fees. If it's against the rules he knows it is and doesn't need telling by a non-customer. I'd get irked too.

Item number? the more people report it the quicker it will be removed.

agree with that, some people are just too nosey

i hate when people have an auction for say a penny and the postage is £100 is it not just a way of fiddling the overall fees??

H e can sell how he likes that wasnt my problem it was being called a cow for kindly suggesting the rules to him to aviod any troubles (thought he was new with 3 fb's) and i wasnt being nosey just stating a point to him and i get called a cow hmmm fair?

But why are ebays charges gone up?? maybe because people sell this way and are cheating the system. its not to be commended and doesnt keep prices down. Considereding you are forced to sell items with free p&p its totally unfair!

The commet about getting the money back if there was a problem was right, you wouldnt be refunded for the p&p so would be a big loss.

Seems he hasnt relisted anything now, maybe because i reported him for the message?
