What am I looking for???

I need to buy a bed for my Son's room.
It needs to be a light wood colour...preferably birch.
I want to get a bed that also is a sofa...I don't want to fold it out at night but just need it to have the higher back so in the day it has cushions around making it into a sofa. Dpes anyone have a clue what I mean.
I have looked up 'day beds' but can't find anything suitable.
Does anyone know the correct name for what I am looking for or anywhere I can get one.

By the way, Ikea has a white one but this is not the colour I need.
Thanks for any advice.

sofa beds are not an ideal bed for permanent use

These don't look great, but could it be a "rattan" you're after?

EDIT: Just googled 'rattan' and i think it is wicker furniture:oops:

It is a 'day bed' that you're after, have you tried Ikea?

Just looked and they have only white wood and metal ones.

Ooh, that's nice

Is this for your son to sleep in every night? How old is he? If he is still young then I would seriously reconsider as his bones are still developing and I understand these types of beds don't give enough support...if space is a premium, and he is young, but not too young, could you have some kind of cabin bed...?

No, I did say I don't want to fold it out. I want a bed, a normal bed but with a higher back so cushions can be placed on it.

He has a specialist mattress especially for back support that I would put on it. I don't want a foldaway bed or a futon with a silly thin mattress. I know more than most about back problems.
He has had a cabin bed for the last 5 years but he's now getting to the teenager phase of life and I just thought it would be nice to get him a bed (used with a normal mattress) that you could also put cushions around it to give it a kind of sofa feel.

Sorry. I misunderstood, I thought you were looking for a fold away style bed. You have to at least give us all credit for caring! LOL!

My in laws were looking for a bed like you describe last year and the only one they found which was not a silly price was at Ikea - but if I remember correctly it was very girly..not sure your son would appreciate that! Hope you find what you are looking for...

No problem. My Son has always had a supportive bed as I have many (and then some) structural problems myself so I am very concerned about getting the best mattress for him. There is a white one in Ikea that is really reasonable but I have just spent silly money on a fitted bedroom for him so would like the bed to match.
Thanks for your input, it is appreciated. I think I might just get a regular bed as it's hard to find what I am looking for.
