I don't just mean the Daily Mail or TV Guide - what books are you all delving into at the moment? I for one am never more than a few feet from whatever I am reading, it's one of my favourite ways to pass the time and always has been.

I've just finished re-reading Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

P.S. "I don't read" comments are unwelcome.

I'm reading hukd's misc at the moment

I only ever get to read in the bath, and I'm mostly into true crime, or crime fiction. Love James Patterson and Jeffrey Deaver, but never got the hang of Stephen King. I recently took a load of books off a freecycle, and there is a lot of stuff I'm not familiar with, but it's good. Something about GhostWalkers, and paranormal activity - can't remember the title or the author...

I used to read a lot of JP's page-turners, but I found they got very very samey. Fair play to him, he found a winning formula and he's using it, but it got to the point where I knew almost everything that was going to unfold after just a few chapters. Also after he "sold out" and started co-authoring books (which were invariably rubbish) I quickly lost interest.

I am still of the opinion that the best crime books ever written were ACD's Sherlock Holmes stories. Also if you like that kind of stuff I'd have a look at Ed McBain

Currently on book 3 of the Sookie Stackhouse series...the TV series is just sexed up

Socialist Standard (December 1986). My favourite quote..."Trying to get capitalism to work in the interest of the majority is like trying to get slavery to work in the interest of the slaves".
