My son has just handed me a note he has written for father christmas asking him a question. What country was he born in? He has then drawn an answer box for father christmas to write the answer. HELP! I kind of think the answer should be Finland. Is there a better answer?

We saw him in Lapland last year so actually that is probably a good answer. That said, he might have moved there when he was chosen to be father christmas. Oh, I think I'm probably looking a little too deeply at this but so want to keep the christmas spirit alive....

christmas island in australia i thought

Santa is base don Saint Nicholas.

Saint Nicholas was born in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek but is now on the southern coast of Turkey. So Turkey.

Merry Xmas all!

Mother was from Christmas Island in Oz.
Father was from Lapland.

Oh, and he was born in Lapland.

EDIT: Enjoy the Christmas magic with your child whilst you can, it's a special time. I still remember writing my Christmas list and putting it on the fire, sending it to Father Christmas and him arriving on Christmas day as a surprise. Have a great day tomorrow, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Aww, bless. You should do the online tracking of Father Christmas online, I can't remember the website but you can track which countries he's visiting and when.

EDIT: I think this is the website: noradsanta.org/en/…tml I just had a look and you should click on the mini videos, seem quite fun.

No way, Santa ever having parent humanises him too much. He's a magical entity, not a normal bloke.

Yes - we follow him on this every year. He's currently at Taj Mahal, India if you're interested.

Poland!

Turkey

This was on ITV1 this evening.
He originated as St Nicholas in Turkey. He is from Lapland
In 1927 Finland had an argument with America saying Father Christmas was from Lapland, not the North Pole as America thought. That is why they call him Santa Claus.
We call him Father Christmas
