What desktop memory do i have?

Was wondering if anyone knows how to check what RAM my desktop PC takes without taking it apart. Is there a way to check whether its DDR or DDR2 by using the computer functions?

You can download a program called 'Everest' and it will show you the components inside your PC.

You could always try crucial website, they can scan online for you, very quick:)

yeah the crucial website is good

Install a free program from Sisoft sisoftware.net/

Download the lite version of XII SP1

For your specific question see sisoftware.net/ind…;a=

Thanks guys, have used crucial website and let me know my pc requires DDR. I would of thought DDR2 as this is more widely used. I think?

It really depends on how old your machine is, if it's a couple of years old, it's unlikely to be DDR2...

If none of those work, Sisoft SANDRA (google it) will do what you need

Do you know what processor you have? Although that's not definite it can be a big help.

Personally I like CPU-Z for identifying memory, it's very small, simple and runs without installing yet tells you exactly what you need.

belarc is a good programme - it shows your hardware, but it also shows your software and updates installed (good for windows)

go on to crucial memory site and it should tell you (99% on there anyway)
