what about a ride on sort of toy, i think you can get toys you sit on and they bounce too. i dont know about prices though. maybe an interactive teddy? or one with lots of buttons that make sounds? babies love to be as noisy as possible lol

she wont have a clue, put money in a bank account for her in the future and get her a cheap ball or something.

    Loving all the suggestions,

Might take a look in the ELC and try find something there...

All seems like a bit of a mind-field if im honest, she has loads of toys already so want to get her something that she will actually play with

to be honest she would probablies ignore the toy and play with the box instead!

my niece used to play with a whisk and a sieve when she came round

How about getting her a yearly pass to a local childrens farm/ soft play centre?
If you want a toy, the ELC Happy land sets are great. My one year old niece loves this:

    or something like this:
    ]http//ww…le/

if you want something girly how about this:

hope this gives you some ideas, you can buy ELC toys at debenhams, boots and mothercare also so always check them for best prices x

Children change very quickly at this age. Is she just 1year old, or maybe 1 plus a few months?

Shes one, she won't be able to even open the present! Put some money into a bank for her and just get her a little outfit or a book you could read to her.

Early Learning Centre toys, you really can't go wrong.

There is always a voucher around for 20% off, Debenhams were selling a lot of their stuff half price a week or two ago. Staff should be able to advise on suitability too.

Btw, 1 year olds in our family have all been able to open their gifts, and have loved the excitement of all the paper etc. As mentioned above, noisy toys go down very well

Funny you mention that - pretty sure she has that already! Got to be the most annoying toy ever.. Toys with sounds I am not a huge fan of ;P

As some have mentioned and as your name suggests:
Put the money in the bank for her.
I don't think she's going to notice one present missing from her brother and she'll appreciate it more later on!

if you can afford another tenner on the budget youve said, get her a premium bond. our daughter has a few and has won twice now.

Premium bonds for a one year old, lol

Give her the box off something you get, she´ll not have a clue what´s going on.

UGG boots? Do you think she will even care?

Get her some books, she'll get more out of being sat on your knee and being read to than she will ever get out of any toy.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt, the Very Hungry Caterpillar and I Love You This Much are always ace reads for wee ones. You'll enjoy reading them to her too!!

Get her a lil toy, go into mothercare or ELC or summin and pick up the nearest one that looks funky and says " suitable for over 12 months" then go buy her some clothes for 12 to 18 months age bracket...... she'll love the toy and you get MAJOR brownie points with your Mum ;-)

My son bought his lil brother t shirts just as he himself likes to wear

    Oh another idea.....

My son bought his lil brother a digital photo frame and put on loads of pics of all of us and then set it up in lil mans bedroom...... lil man gets so excited seeing pics of himself doing things and pics of all of us... he loves it xxxxx

My girls have always received silver baby jewellery for their first birthdays.... baby bangles like this...

^^^ wow that's really come down in price hasn't it!!

I think putting some money in account for her is prob the best idea. Thats what I did for my sons first birthday and I just bought him a couple of little bits as they get so much from the rest of the family! There are a range of books called 'Thats not my....' and they are great. For girls they do thats not my princess, thats not my fairy, thats not my dolly and a few others. Would be lovely for her to have big brother read her a pretty girly story

yep used to be quite traditional to buy for babies-and with the interest rate could be a better choice:roll:
