What do I need to look for when buying DAB radio for car

I have an older car and want to upgrade the radio to a DAB digital one so I have access to a wide range of channels.

When looking for a DAB radio what do I need to make sure it has. The reason I ask is because I've done a search on HUKD and people have stated in the title of the ads that it's DAB but many people have commented saying it's not and you need extra parts/tools.

Assuming the electrical connectors fit, which you can check easily via Google, you will probably need an additional aerial. Your old FM/AM aerial won't be any good for DAB.

I bought a windscreen mounted aerial for my car radio as it was easier for me to fit. The powered aerials are better, so make sure the radio can provide this if going this route.

Finally, some radios are DAB Ready and require an additional box for the actual DAB to work. I think careful reading of the item's description will provide the answer to this.

DAB in the car is great, get a good aerial and you'll be a happy.

Yes, this could be a coverage problem, could be down to your receiver, or your aerial might not be the best. If either of these aren't up to scratch you can get problems like this. I would suggest you speak to a local installer (not Halfords) who can probably advise on the way to go. Putting an amplified aerial in might work, but I suspect Ford use a combined FM/DAB aerial, so I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Worth seeing if any electrical items are causing a problem too. My old dashboard camera kills my DAB reception. I suspect phone chargers, sat navs, etc., might also cause issues in some cases. Unplug everything and see if that helps.
