Crap.

I think i'd need at least the 64GB version with 3G to make any point - which then would be good.

But not at that price lol.

I wish they'd gone for full fat Mac OS.. Not iPhone OS.. Kind of limits it i think.. iPhone is good for a phone, not a tablet.

Monopoly!

iCrap

I like it as an eReader/video screen, which is what I'd use it for, don't particularly need the 3G edition as well, which is good.

wats an ipad?

Our lass tried one but said they arent as absorbent as regular tampax

Bit of a let down really they could have made it so much more

It must be harder to stick it in your underwear too.

Seems like a nice bit of kit, boring design though and doesn't really solve a problem that exists for many people.

Periods?

Underfeatured overpriced piece of rubbish, like more or less every Apple product. However, I've no doubt at all that the iPad 3GS will be a nice piece of kit, in about five^H^H^H^H three years' time.

Well that's just silly.

I've thought of something concise to sum it up.

Ready?

They've stretched the ipod touch when they should've shrunk the Macbook Pro

Good?

Kind of like it but not that impressed with its features really. Spose they will save extras for the future generations as usual.

looks like a nice bit of kit, but doesnt really do anything for me, you want an ereader buy one, you want a laptop buy one, music player with apps, ipod touch.too big to be portable so you might as well buy a laptop then, similar price and more things can be done on it....

its just kind of a mix of everything thats not really needed imo.

Periods?

Don't be too harsh on F&F she used a period in the correct place at the end of the sentence as well as a comma.

Agree

That said, if you want a MacBook, buy a MacBook...but be prepared to pay top dollar for it. For those of us who don't need one, but like shiny things, the 16gb Wi-Fi only version at £300-odd quid is affordable.

In short, it's for people like me who like a nice gadget that's a bit flash with no real substance. I'll mask my ostenation by protesting that it's great for browsing the web from the comfort of my sofa, without having to be near a plug all the time (as my wife does with her netbook).

It's a device searching for a need, and it'll find it in early-adopter muppets like me!!!

its the equivalent of going from this

to this

Crap, as already mentioned another product for the stupid who love apple (if you disagree with this, I guess you alrady bought one, more fool you), iphone has been the only apple product ever to grasp my attention for long enough and be practical. Granted I have no use for the apple books there nice and all but I'd spend my money elsewhere.

So long as you only want to browse the web and do nothing else at the same time....and don't mind not having flash support or video conferencing.

Maybe it'll have success as a competitor to the Kindle, but my Kindle doesn't get used anymore because once the novelty has worn off you can't beat a book.

Hehe...I'll admit to that being me!!! I have an iPod Touch, and in reality, the iPad doesn't do anything else that I actually NEED that I can't already do on the Touch. But then again, browsing would be nicer on a bigger screen, films would look better on a bigger screen, to see my albums with artwork would be nice.

Apps is a weird issue...the iPad is meant to work with all current Apps as they are - but make them fullscreen and they'll look pretty bad. I can't imagine holding a 10in screen up to play a racing game controller by accelerometer - my arms would drop off. For prodctive apps - music apps, Brushes etc, I concede it's pretty exciting...

The one thing this could've replaced in my bag is notepads.

I have my laptop for work, my mobile for browsing on the go but I still carry a lot of paper. If this iPad had stylus support and handwriting recognition then I'd see the point of it.

As it is, it lacks a purpose at the moment.

Without a doubt there will be a 'note' app shortly its screaming for one, and although Jobs has said he will never include a stylus in any apple product (guess he forgot about the newton) there is no reason a stylus won't work with it.

Think I will on the whole stick with the MacBook Pro and the iPod Touch, not for me this one.

You can't use a normal stylus with the iPod Touch, so presume it'll be the same with the iPad...but there are some special styluses (stylii???) out there that can be used with Apple touchscreen products.

I would imagine a notes app is already out there....

I don't know how they're going to sell this in Belfast...."I'm lookin for an ipad mate. No not an ipad, an ipad."

Oh HEY! I'm so relieved it's not that 'bloody' iPad again. Come on in... let's go play two flash videos simultaneously.

If two or more women in the same household have iPads after a short period they will be in sync

Steve knows these jokes will go away after a short period.

ipad sounds like a brand of sanitary towel

So its basically a large iPod Touch then? :?

The screen is capacitive not resistive which means a conventional stylus will not work at all and due to the lack of fine precision this type of screen offers even a purpose designed stylus may not be that great.
