What do we think to domino adding £1.99 to every delivery

Posted 28th Mar 2022
Before the pandemic I could order a medium 2 topping pizza to the door for around £12-13 and was very happy with that. Prices have go up and them days are long gone and now they are adding £1.99 to every delivery order

Honestly I will never use them again

For me its the difference between ordering from Papajohns or Dominos.
My local dominos rearly do any decent deals otherthan the 50% off which is still way overpriced.
I have a rule that I will never pay anymore than £10 for a large pizza.

Pizza is very cheap to make so they are fleecing people at the best of times

I think the extortionate pizza prices must pay for the petrol already.

You can't blame them with petrol prices now going through the roof, if you think it's unfair go and collect.

For liquidising their assets, they would need a building sized blender !

Liquidate is the word you mmmeant !

Noticed last week a £0.99 delivery fee on my domino's order so may be region /franchise decision to charge.

Domino's is tasty pizza ... 1.99 flat fee may be a tad excessive if you only live a couple of roads away.. although, I guess then you could just go and collect.. but if you're 4miles out, then it's a decent charge.

Pizza Hut have done the same and neither have increased the delivery amount given to the drivers!

£1 to do a 10 mile round trip.

What I think is its shameful to add a delivery charge when they're not passing any of it to the very people doing the delivery's, who are on zero hour contracts at minimum wage!

    Boycott!

It's only your Franchise that adds a delivery charge.

    Mine has no delivery charge.

My local Papa Johns has started adding a delivery fee. But that store makes excellent pizza.

Just had a look because never had one and they also charge £1.99 for delivery for me

Luckily I can walk to collect but will never order for delivery again if I am in another town etc.

I believe most pizza companies will start doing this. It's frustrating but entirely expected considering rising costs. I first noticed this back in December 2021 with Papa John's, which was oddly only being applied when ordering through their website and not the app, however is now applied to both. I've converted to Pizza Hut for the time being and it makes a nice change!

Do the drivers even get it though? This also stops people tipping them so they get even less

Found this to the reason why

A Domino's spokesperson said: “We have introduced a small delivery charge because, like many businesses, Domino’s is facing increased labour, fuel and food costs. Our charges are low compared to many of our competitors, who are facing the same pressures and are already charging for delivery.

Think they will get rid of it when the fuel goes down? Just pure greed

Yep, local is the best way to go for Pizza. I used to eat Domino's religiously 7-8 years ago but then found better places for half price and double the size!

The fact they're now charging for delivery doesn't surprise me when their pizzas are stupidly expensive.

Have you had the XXL Papa John's for £9.99?
I'm so tempted but not got round to it yet.

Much as I would like to say yes HDUK would count that as self-promotion so sadly no - but it's not exactly difficult. (edited)

Free delivery for me, but I noticed they jacked up the price of the "room for more" items which included a large margherita now £6.99 (used to be £4.99). £20 for two large and one medium was bearable, but now with the price up to £24, I just stick to the supermarket pizzas with my own toppings and have £20+ left over.

For me Papa Johns added the £1.99 first.
Still a lot cheaper than using Uber Eats or Deliveroo. Although Uber Eats keep giving 50% off which makes them a bit cheaper.

Same here £1.99 at my local Papa Johns in Sussex. Domino's it is then!

My dominoes has just introduced a delivery fee of £2.50. Thats fair enough but I wont tip the driver now. He used to get £2.50 so that would be me paying a fiver for delivery. Nope.
