Sometimes, particularly when the signal is low, me and mum have 3g(on mine) and 3.5g(on mums) nokia fones instead of the little telephone mast shape.
what does this mean? iv had a look on the web but get confusing answers.
i just wondered if it was anything to be bothered about

3G is for data (internet stuff), and 3.5G is a slightly newer, faster version. The phone will try and connect to 3G when it can, that is why it will often appear when you have low signal as it is trying to keep the 3G signal rather than going to the slower EDGE/GPRS/GSM signal which is normally stronger.
Your Mum has a better phone/network.

im not bothered about what the difference is between 3.5 and just 3, i just wanted to know what it meant to have the number instead of the signal. she does have a newer fone, hers is about 6 months, mines nearly 3 yrs

does it charge u then for internet use when its on the 3g signal instead of normal?
no, it just means thats the signal you have access to.

E - Edge
G - GPRS
3g
3.5g
H - HSPDA

in order of speeds from lowest to fastest
